I got the SE DVD of "Forever" today, and I watched one of the featurettes, and Chris O'Donnell said that the line in "Kiss from a Rose" that goes "You became the light on the dark side of me" was a reference to Bruce Wayne's/Batman's relationship with Dr. Chase Meridian. How can that be? The song came out WAAAAAAAAAY before the movie did. The song first appeared on Seal's self-titled 1994 album, and the version on the Forever soundtrack isn't even the full version of the song (it is however the version I hear the most when I hear it out in public). How can this be a reference to the relationship if the song came out a year before the movie did? |

Most of the time.. music for movies are selected before the movie is due out. I'm sure Seal knew at least a year and a half before BF came out.
Or even if he wrote it and it wasn't intended to be in the movie.. it still reflects their relantionship, which is one reason they could have picked it.
and if I remember right.. Didn't the video have BF scenes in it?

Yes, it did. I was just pointing out that the song came out a year before the movie did. |

I doubt that the song was written to work with the movie. It was probably chosen because of that line. Other than the riddler, I don't think that any of the songs on the soungtrack were written for the movie. Odds are they chose what they did because there was some kind of reference to things that happen in the movie (not an intentional reference) so that they could have a lot of modern songs that would make the album sell.

That's funny because I always remembered that song because although it was really good, it had nothing to do with BF! At least I thought it didn't.

There was only one song of the BF OST that was actually related to the film (Method Man's "The Riddler" , and only 5 of the 14 songs on it were actually in the film. When there's certain soundtracks that don't have any songs to do with the film or TV show or whatever, I hear people complain like that, and I always mention the BF OST hoping they'll stop complaining. |
