The Tumbler was described in the film as being the army's bridging vehicle carrying equipment. Do you think realistically something like the Tumbler could be used in the military?

I would say no - not in today's military, at least. For one, it has a very limited application: beyond acting as a bridging vehicle, it can't really do much else (it only has room for two, is fairly fuel consumptive, and probably minimally armored to make it light enough to jump easily). Helicopters can cross rivers & ravines a lot quicker, and can be used for many more purposes. For another, it seems like most R&D today is going into weapons development and robotics...new manned vehicles just aren't as useful. And third, bridges in general seem like a bad idea: even temporary ones can be destroyed easier than they can be created, and cost a lot of lives and equipment due to enemy actions or accidental failure. it's better to just go around the obstacle and use existing infrastructure.
The Tumbler served its purpose well: a cool idea and technically reasonable, but pretty much impractical in the field.
