The deleted scenes of BATMAN FOREVER are the most biggest thign to actually see next to Donner's true version of Superman II. Because fo that, a new thread on them I felt was need to review them.
Well the BF deleted scenes are good to see. Great as well since we heard about them, saw pics, but never could get them 'til now. Those scenes and an uncut restored BF is next to the Donner cut of Superman II (as I said) and a must have and a must need.
The scenes of BF tell more and show more of the characters. The Arkham scene where the guard was tied up and hung from the fan, and I believe was bleeding to death was something to change people's minds on BF. Other scenes like Dick beating a punching bag with Two Face's head on it and Bruce wanting to be like a father to him was good to see. And of course the batcave and red jounal sequence. You feel Bruce's redemption and the symbolism in it that was missing from the film.
Theres only one bad thing about the scenes. Every shot is either 75% or close completed. Because they cut them during post production, they're not even finished. Sounds come in that aren't suppose to, effects aren't done, you can hear Joel directing the actors, or Val saying something twice in different coverage shots.
Theres one deleted scene that I believe isn't ervery good and great they cut it. Was the Batman trying to convice Two Face to stop was horrible. It wasn't needed to have, Batman switching from outside to on the wheel was embrassing, and the lines are bad to hear. That sucked.
As far as I know, thats the only thing wrong. The only thing that I wished they did was do a uncut version of the film. But I hope a BATMAN FOREVER DE-CLASSIFED in still being planned. I think it can be done with the scenes like this, but not with the one I hated. I believe they just need the soundtrack or some music to cover the shots to feel complete.
RATING: 8/10
You don't get it, boy... this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table.

I agree with most of what you said Nate with the exception of one thing: the Beauty and the bat scene was corny. I understand Schumucker was trying to be funny, but I thought that scene was just plain stupid. Personally I liked the Arkam scene the best. |

Yeah, I saw it again today. It was kinda dull, not corny to the point where saying it wasn't funny. It was, not alot.
At least it did expalin why Batman didn't stop Riddler and Two Face during there criem sprere, didn't it?

I watched them earlier today. My favorite of the deleted scenes was the one where Wayne comes face to face with that big bat, and he comes out and says to Alfred "I'm Batman". |

i very much liked the cave/bat scene. Kilmer gave a good emotional performance there when he was reading the journal. the one thing i didnt like is when he did say to Alfred, "im Batman". bad delivery, kind of cheezy, it kind of ruined the moment.

Well that scene is very similar to the scene where Bruce confronts the bats that scared him in Batman Begins.
I got the DVD finally last night and I was very pleased with the deleted scenes. Naturally, I was slightly disappointed at the lack of a soundtrack or foley editing but the scenes were definitely worth putting in. I did love the scene where Bruce finds the red journal and Val's acting is absolutely astounding in this scene (I still say Val was great), but the giant bat was just ridiculous. Since when can bats hover in mid-air and since when are bats six feet tall? The thing that annoyed me the most about this scene however, was when Bruce walks out to Alfred with a big smile on his face and says assuredly "Batman, I'm Batman!"
I had read the novelisation of Batman Forever (a must-read for any Batman fan) and it described this scene far better than how it actually appeared. I was hoping that the bat would just appear the same way as it did in the other parts of the film (small and far away in the distance) and I was also hoping that Alfred would walk in to the cave where he would find a panicked Bruce who would quietly whisper almost confusedly "Batman, Alfred...I'm Batman..." but sadly, Schumacher went and wrecked that idea. ead:

I would seek justice...
I would have my revenge... |

Val's acting when he said
"It's not my fault..."
Was absolutely superb. I can't possibly picture Keaton doing this. I don't get why people think that Keaton was so much better! He barely even said anything when he was Bruce.

Keatons portrayal of Bruce was different than Kilmers. Keaton showed the awkwardness of being Brucy Wayne, how he wasnt really "comfortable" with himself unless he had the cape and cowl on.

Sorry, but I don't think Bruce was ever like that in the comics, except when it came to the ladies. The only time he was ever awkward was when he was around the other half and that was only when he really loved them as well.

I didn't understand that either. The scene is awkward and I just didn't quite understand it. I like the way they did it in Batman Begins with the whole flock of Bats flying around Bruce.

yeah, but in one of the comentaries, joel said he wanted to make batman forever more...uhh...cool and unrealistic because it was a comic book character. i guess he thought that batman needed some unrealisticness to make batman cooler. but thats fine with me...
but i was laughing in that scene for some reason. everything was silent, and there was a matrix scene of bruce putting up his arms and the bat flying...all i heard in my head was "hug me". lol.

I think that the bat looked really cool when it was far away in the distance and its eyes glowed red, but once it came up really close to Bruce's face, it just looked silly.
It was really funny, my mom walked in on me watching this deleted scene and I was discussing it with her. I was telling her how much I loved this scene but how the bit at the end was silly. Suddenly, the bat came on screen and she covered her face in a pillow from the sofa and screamed! She complained that she'd have that horrible image in her head for ages! Just goes to show how little can scare the previous generation!
