BATMAN 1989, and BATMAN BEGINS.

Heheh. The nostalgia just won't let this guy give in to Batman Begins.

To me, Batman Begins is the Batman film. But I still place Tim Burton's Batman up high as its own. It hasn't really been demoted, partially because of the nostalgia it holds with me.

Even though I was too young to remember, I do agree that the hype of 1989 had to have been greater than this year's. I feel like I was way too pre-exposed Begins (especially getting to watch a damn 10 minute preview). With the next film, I'm pretty sure I'll try and stay as cold as possibly before entering the theatre. No big previews, very few photos, just a small bit of exposure. It probably will be difficult, working for the biggest fansite on the 'net everyday.

I agree with Caleson. Anyway, my favourite Bat-Movies are

Batman Begins
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Batman 1989
Batman Returns
Batman Forever (certain parts)

I would have my revenge...

I have to agree with Caleson. Batman (1989) was my favorite Batman film until I saw Batman Begins. Batman Begins just nailed it the whole film was great. Not just a great Batman film, but also a great film in general.

No, the hype from 1989 and Batmania III as it was often dubbed was not what it could have been. Because Batman was the first in 1989 it makes sense that it had the biggest marketing hype for it. Batman Begins followed four previous Batman films, the last of which, Batman and Robin was one of the worst films ever made. So, they down played it a bit.

Yes, we got to see a lot more on Batman Begins well before it hit the theaters. With BYTB and BOF and other fan sites all over the Internet who could miss the new pictures and information that came out every week. We did not have the Internet in 1989.

I saw a lot of stuff prior to going to see Batman Begins and knew a lot about what would happen. I still enjoyed watching the film and I will probably do the same for the next film.

Batman 89, Batman Begins, and Mask of the Phantasm. I can't really compare them, but I think MOTP is easily the best incarnation of the character.
