Hey,

I just got the 89 toybiz batwing and I'm not really into the suction cup missles it came with. Have any of you come up with some better alternatives for them? Also, does anybody elses canopy not snap all the way in? Well aside from all that it's one of my fav. vehicles, plus the box artwork on it is awesome!

PS - this site is awesome!Smile

Hey, batmania! First, welcome to the forum. We're glad you like the site, as there's still much more in store for it coming soon. Smile

As for the Toy Biz Batwing, my brother got one many years ago for Christmas, but for some reason, all I have left now is one or two suction cups... I don't remember a lot about it, but I definitely liked the front pinchers which are sadly not included on Kenner's version. I got the Kenner version really cheap two years ago, and I hope to buy another Toy Biz version someday. And yes, that old painted box art is great.

So what do you not like about the missles specifically? Do they not fire properly or do they just look silly? If it's just the latter, I'd consider cutting off the suction ends, sharpening them a bit, and repainting the missles grey or black. Of course they're rubbery, so this may not be as easy as with hard plastic. Finding a solid plastic sustitute could be difficult, as I would imagine the launching mechanism wouldn't be able to handle their weight and hardness, but I could be wrong on that.

I remember seeing your avatar from a Super Powers custom site. I'm currently adding a few figure avatars for BYTB members to choose from, so hopefully more people with your taste will find them useful. Smile

Here?s a picture of my Toy Biz Batplane

The Suction Cup Darts do look stupid, but it was 1989 and toys were not as sophisticated as they are today. You might be able to update it with newer missiles, but I'm not sure which ones would work best. Most of the missiles in other Bat toys are not quite the same size as those darts.

I don?t recall any issues with the canopy either and by the looks of the picture it seems to fit OK. I only wish I had an extra Batman to display with it.

The only thing I hate is it is hard to display with that Trigger underneath it. I've got it propped up here, but may have to make a custom stand for it one day.

Yeah I found it on a custom site a good while ago and just really loved how close it looked to the old cartoon version of batman. I'd like to do a custom like it someday.

As for the Batwing I'm really just looking for something that will fit as well as look like it was originally with it. The red suctions are cool to shoot but I would like to substitute it for a round gun or big missle. If you guys know of anything else lemme know...I've tried about everything though haha.

You might try the missiles from any of the versions of the BTAS Batplane

They look to be about the same size in width and length, although they are flat and not rounded like the suction cup darts are.

There were a few different versions of this Batplane in different series of figures so it should be easy enough to find.

Yes, For the most part I own everything in all the pictures I post online, sometimes I might post a catalog shot of upcoming figures or use one from our BYTB Database. I only do Figure Reviews of figures I own and I pay for. It would be nice if Mattel sent me figures to review, but then they might expect me to say something nice about a figure that might not be so great.

Currently I have:

1962 Action Figures, Die Cast Figures and Dolls, 1682 of which are different.
80 Vehicles from different Toy lines
18 Playsets from different Toy lines
14 Role Play items from different Toy lines
22 1:64 Scale Die Cast Vehicles
38 1:43 Scale Die Cast Vehicles
5 1:24 Scale Die Cast Vehicles
100 1:18 Scale Die Cast Vehicles
1 1:16 Scale Die Cast Vehicle

At least that?s what I have in my Excel Spreadsheet, I?m probably short a few items as I find thing I have that I forgot to include. I recently did an a whole revamping and update of my spreadsheet that was used as information for part of book project involving a well know writer.

I have nearly every Batman figure released since 1984 including a few very rare ones. I also have a lot of Batman items not in the database, a wall light, clocks, telephone, lunch tins, glassware, Christmas ornaments, T-Shirts other clothing and other stuff.

I never noticed that Toy Biz display you've got, FlaBat. That's cool. I've still got a few of those figures to buy and I'd love to get the Batcave someday. I recently found a 1989 Toy Biz catalog on eBay that has some very interesting pre-release photos. If I win it, I'll make sure to scan the pages.

Well heck, I'm sure there's plenty of items I have yet to get in the database. I could go on eBay any given day and find Batman stuff that I've never seen before. With a nature like that, collecting never gets too dull. Smile

I meant MY Database, my Excel Spreadsheet, NOT the BYTB Batabase that you compiled Smile Did I mention that our Batabase is the largest single Batman Collectibles database in this sector of the Galaxy and that Caleson is my White-Knight-Horse-Ridding-Hero for making it wink

I've been redoing my spreadsheet and making changes since we got involved in that project a few months ago. I was not as dedicated to inputting the data like I am now, so I have things in my collection that I never put in it.

Granted I have things in my collection that are NOT in the BYTB Batabase too embarrassed

Ohhh. Hahah. Yeah, I've never explored your entire Excel database before, just the figures. I've considered making one for my own stuff, but it'd be tough to keep track. I may do it someday though.

Very cool, FlaBat - you really do have a great collection! It's great that you have them all cataloged, too. That's got to make it a lot easier.

Out of curiosity, are those figures Batman-related only, or are you counting other toy lines as well?

I count all my action figure and toy lines, not just Batman. Batman/DC figures make up most, about half the collection. I?ve slacked a bit on some of the die cast, as I know I have Hot Wheels cars that I have that I?ve not counted, although the larger die casts are pretty well accounted for.

The solution!!!

I dunno if the pics do it justice or not but the replacements blend perfectly with the rest of it. I like it 100 times more than the red suction cups!! Just a couple of rubber screw covers painted black and viola, brand new batwing!

wink
