According to computerandvideogames.com; Traveler's Tales, the creators of the highly acclaimed Lego Star Wars video games, are going on to make a Lego video game based on the Batman franchise. When asked Traveler's Tales declined to comment on the subject. However, Traveler's Tales development director Jonathan Smith commented on the companies long standing relationship with Lego, saying they "Will definitely be making more LEGO games in the future." This news was released in September, and no developments have come since the report.

I find this news both exciting and disturbing; on one hand it looks like we are finally going to get a great Batman game, but on the other hand it looks like the only great Batman video game in close sight (or possibly ever) is going to be a Lego tie-in.

God, I can't believe this. I've been saying for months that it would be great if they made a Lego Batman game, since I've enjoyed both LEgo SW games so much. I didn't think for a moment it would actually happen, though. If this actually gets released, it'll be great. I've been hoping they'd make games based on some of the other characters Lego has licensed, including Spider-Man. It's a great idea that I didn't think would ever actually go anywhere, but it's like they read my mind.

Batman's perfect for a Lego game; the main feature of the Star Wars games was the fact that each character could do something unique from the others, all they have to do is adapt it so that it's differant gadgets instead of characters, and they've got the foundation to a great game.

I really expected them to go to Harry Potter after Star Wars, but I guess they just were to lazy to try to adapt the first few movies.

And suddenly I recall Victor Lucas' (Of G4's Judgment Day) comment when the first Lego Star Wars was reviewed; he said they should make a Lego Batman game. When I saw the show I thought "Fat chance, like Lego's going to even get the rights to make Batman kit's, let alone video games." Now I stand twice corrected.

This sounds awesome. The only gaming I have been doing for quite a while has been in Lego Star Wars. If they can make a Batman version as good, it will be the definitive best Batman game ever. Which admittedly is weird because it is a Lego game, but I can let that go.

A good move would be to base the story aroiund Knightfall. That way, they could still keep the "three episodes" format, like with both Lego SW games. First act is Knightfall, second is Knight quest, third act is Knightsend. This would also be a good setup because the story covered bascially every single Batman character, with only a few exceptions. Those few stragglers (Ra's al Ghul, for instance, and a few JLA teammates) could be added with minimal effort. I think I would like this more than the Lego SW games, simply because I like Batman far more than SW. In the Sw games, I don't even know who half the characters are.
(I love playing as Emperor Palpatine in Lego SW2, though. Frying Lego civilians with force lightning is awesome! big grin )

Very cool news, but sad there have been no updates about it. It makes sense given the success of the LEGO Star Wars version.

As much fun as Knightfall would be, they're definitly going to go a more child marketable route (Honestly, how many kids even know who Azreal is?); I'm guessing that they'll go with the Arkham breakout story that accompanied the Lego kits.

Oh, I don't think for a moment they'll actually use that story. I just think it would be a good idea to go that route. And who cares if kids know who Azrael is? Most kids don't know who all those minor Star Wars characters are, either. Doesn't matter, long as the game is good, and including all those minor characters is good fan service in the meantime. Throwing in guys like Azrael with a Lego Batman game would be the same.
