Okay, just so everyone knows, I thought this would be the best place to put this thread.

I've sort of made a list of songs that I think would fit Batman well, whether it's for the movies, cartoons, or anything. Feel free to add to the list. Some of these are pretty no-brainer choices.

"The Unforgiven" by Metallica (a generic choice since the music video someone made a while back)

"Blind" by Lifehouse (a awesome song, that's in my opinion fits almost perfect for the matter of Batman's parent's death)

"Savin' Me" by Nickelback (cool song that I think fits almost any action footage)

"Forget It" by Breaking Benjamin (I believe it was XforeverXknightX who made a video with this song, it was great)

"Sick Cycle Carousel" by Lifehouse (well, two songs from the same band, ah well, it fits good to me)

"In The End" by Linkin Park (some may say yes, some no, oh well, worth a try)

The list is kind of short, but oh well, I may add to it later.

So, got some other songs in mind? Let's brainstorm!

Fort Minor?

...No. Sorry, but that video was awful. Hip hop should stay away from Batman at all times. In fact, I'm surprised Batman hasn't put out a restraining order. I really don't think unless it's classical or some form of heavy metal (not just any), it doesn't belong anywhere near Batman.

"Unforgiven" by Metallica seems okay. But I think more in terms of darker bands like Coal Chamber, Nine Inch Nails, and Type O Negative. And I'm not just saying that because those're the bands that I like. Metallica's my favorite group, but I can't see most of their stuff with Batman. It is a matter of lyrical content (though I prefer instrumental music for a soundtrack), but much more above that, it's about atmosphere. Can you honestly look at Batman and think of a lame hip hop beat? It's completely out of character. :|

it's not completely out of character. the lyrics of "believe me" fit with batman begins well. to be fair, i cant see batman fighting some thugs and a hip hop song playing as the background music.

i can see why hip hop is out of character, but i cant see how heavy metal is. some of heavy metal is satanic, even some of those u mentioned. i dont see batman as a satanic kinda guy. i think some heavy metal does though; if u count breaking benjamin as one.

breaking benjamin is the stuff *dance* anyways in the end it boils down to personal opinion. If I thought a song by the bare naked ladies was fit for batman, thats my opinion and I have every right to stress that. Despite being flamed by everyone, I doubt I would still change my opinion on the song and we'd just have fight on our hands. So dudes, relax

Hmm...while I agree that hip hop doesn't fit Batman, I wouldn't say that heavy metal and classical are the only genres that do, in fact I would say that most heavy metal doesn't fit. Rock fits him fine I think. And yeah, it's all personal preference I suppose.

So, any more songs folks?

Heheh. Yeah, it is about opinions. But I don't think we're quite flaming over them, so no worries. I just get a little passionate about it. ::yellowsmile::

And I don't mean all heavy metal would fit Batman. Heck, as much as I like metal bands, there's just as big a handful of metal that's God awful and not suitable for Batman. I do think some Breaking Benjamin would work; it just depends on what song.

The main reason I think heavy metal/rock and classical music fit Batman is because of the intense emotion they convey. Most hip hop doesn't really illustrate brutal agression or other emotion as metal or the majestic feeling that classical music can present. I just really feel that those two genres are tied together well and are able to represent Batman's world better than any other.

And when I refer to metal that I feel is associated with Batman, I usually think of very melodic, dark, and slow flowing songs. I can see why you'd disagree with me though, if you think of the fast paced, scream & scratch kind of metal. Or maybe you just don't like the metal genre at all, which is fine too... I guess... ::yellowwinksmile::

But I think we can all agree that the lyrical content of a song is much less important in representing Batman than the mood and atmosphere of the song. Just because Michael Jackson releases a song about a loner that spreads freedom and justice doesn't automatically mean it belongs on the next Batman soundtrack, right?

nicely defended there caleson and I completely agree that the lyrics are less important. While they do represent a large part in connecting songs to ideas, its the instrumental music driving the song that entices many to chose it as a representation for something.

btw which songs by breaking benjamin would you say fit Batman (personally?), or was that a reference to them in general?

Thank ya. As far as Breaking Benjamin goes, I think "Cold" would suit Batman well. I could just see clips of Batman looming over the city, incorporated with those desolate, echoing guitar cords of the song's intro, and the lyrics fit somewhat also. I can't think of too many of their other songs that would fit exceptionally well, but I'm sure there's others.

For Batman-esque music, or just great music in general, I really think you outta check out Type O Negative if you haven't already. Songs like "Anesthesia," and "Everyone I Love Is Dead." Just joking on the last one, though it is a pretty cool song. Heheh. Type O Negative can be tricky with lyrics though. While their music is very serious, Pete Steele loves to write about goofy topics (like adultery and menstrual cycles). And most of the lyrics are right out there very clearly.

Other stuff that would work wonderfully for a Batman music video would be songs by Flaw. "Only the Strong" and "Best I Can" are powerful, uplifting songs that would be just awesome for a video. Lyrically, they work very well also. "Best I Can" sounds almost as if Bruce Wayne is speaking to Alfred or his father. Seriously, take a listen to those tracks.

yeah, I'll have to check em out. Right now I'm trying to find footage from BTAS or of a cartoon batman in general (minus super friends) and then I'm putting it to So Cold by breaking benjamin. I'll have to check out those bands though and see what I can do

Riot by Three Days Grace or Time of Dying (by 3DG). Riot would be a cool song to use with footage of mostly villians and conflicts in arkham. anyways theres two more to add to the list...

Actually, the Firefox web browser lets you download videos off You Tube as well as just about any other non-downloadable video file. I'll probably use it to get my own copies of the old ABC Batman and Mego commercials for BYTB. Never know when they may disappear from You Tube. Smile
