A fellow Batfan emailed us at BYTB asking about a Batcycle he had as a young lad. He even provided photos which I've cropped and enhanced color-wise. It was most likey manufactured within 1975-1977, but the only big companies that come to mind as far as Batman vehicles go are Corgi and Mego, and those were all small-scale toys. I found this an interesting item, so if anyone has information such as the manufacturer, year, or even a photo of the box (seems unlikely), I'd appreciate it.

While I'm on the topic, we also have a bicycle from the 1970s in the Outdoor Fun archives. It, too, has little information.

I have one of these Batcycles from my youth. The only writing on it says "National Periodical Publ. Inc. 1975". It varies slightly in color from the photos you have.

The fellow that emailed me about it (Lusche, the one who posted earlier) said that under the handlebar it reads 1975 but doesn't say the manufacturer. You added a great deal of info with your photo, so I'm quite happy with that anyway. I just wonder if it was re-released in '79 as well.

Maybe the Handlebar was made in 1975. Those look like standard handlebars for that kind of bike.

Regardless of the actual year it came out it's still one of my favorite bat-items out there....it's cool! Mattell made a tricycle toy in 1966 called THE BATMAN X-L9 (or something like that ). One recently sold on eBay for BIG bucks. It's SUPER-RARE! It's all metal but looks kind of like one of those Marx Big Wheels with a brake lever & everything!
