Does ANYONE know what Corgi's plans for 2007 with Batmobiles?

Cancelled?
New cars?
Which?

(My first post, now that this forum shows up with Mac Safari)

Good question.

Until a couple of weeks ago they had 3 new Batman/Batmobile items listed on their "coming soon" pages - now they seem to have gone!

& they've not been included in any of the countless recent email new releases. Their website isn't great for finding things however (in fact it's rubbish).

The modern age set has been on the Corgi USA site for a while. Looks good (and the previous 4 2-piece sets in presentations boxes are amongst the nicest things' Corgi have done)!

There's a new blue 1/24th scale 40s Batmobile - which looks gorgeous (its a bad picture but the only I can now find on the net) - but a disappointing selection considering it's available in same scale but in a different colour. I guess Corgi figure a figure makes all the difference (as you can see it comes with one). They obviously (quite rightly) like this one, as it'll be available in both black and blue in both 1/43rd & 1/24th scale!

There's also a new 1/43rd Batmobile coming - which was first pictured by Spencer about a year ago - and I assumed it was dropped (for a couple of days I was in a panic because I thought my collection wasn't complete!). Then I saw it on the aforementioned new release page that disappeared from Corgi's own site (US77353).

In addition to all the above - there are 3 others that Spencer has posted details on relatively recently under the "Corgi Batmobiles Cancelled" thread...........

You'll quickly get hooked to this site if you like Batman.

I've just found the details on the Corgi site again - here's a better picuture of the one I was talking about..................

There are a few other items on this page at Corgi's website.........

http://www.corgi.co.uk/CorgiSite/2/0/TOYS2006CS/

That link takes you to page 2 of their upcoming items, if you click to go to page 1 there is also some nice 007 stuff.

For the prices they charge and the many selections they've available, you've got to say Corgi's stuff is fantastic.

Huh, must've missed this thread the first time around. Real-dark-knight pretty much hit all the high points, though. From what I have seen, I think 2007 will be made up of repaints. In addition to these three, they had early sketches done for a few other Batmobiles...but it looks like the drawing pad is as far as they might get.

Five more cars are planned for re-release: the 1930s coupe, the 1960s Batmobile, Two-Face's hardtop, Catwoman's car, and the Killer Mothmobile. All five are repaints of existing cars, but will include a special figure:

I think my response to this is a wow - but I'm not 100% sure.

I guess if it's this or nothing then it IS a wow - but new models would've been nicerl! I must however admit I like the look of the figures!

If they're doing makeovers, I definitely agree with a couple of the choices! I might have gone for a couple of others though (maybe even challenge them to make the BatSubmersible look interesting!)

I love the red coupe. I bought a 2nd one to put on my PC at work and whenever anyone comes round, it tends to start a conversation - to date, no-one has had a clue what it's from until I've told them!

I wasn't potty on the Catmobile. It's ok but not my favourite. I guess a Catwoman figure will be nice though. Suspect she'll be too small to come with a functional zipper.

It doesn't look like they've done a great deal with KillerMoth's car!

I love Two-Face's car. It's one of the very best. If I was deciding, that would definitely be my choice for a new 1/24th! How good would that be!

Any idea when we can expect this lot Spencer? Probably some time in 2009!

I've just had a look the website and the figures are 4 inch high!!! Against a 1/43rd scale car?? Unless I can't quite picture this correctly, I dunno about riding shotgun, Batman will be rampaging through the streets of Gotham like some sort of Godzilla!

I was in the main Modelzone store in central London today and I asked the manager if he had any idea when the new Corgi stuff might be available and he actually laughed before he answered!

PS - Nice new sig Inzo (although I'm not a great fan of the Quadmobile)

Only 16 feet tall (actually1/48). In 1/43-> more like 14-15 feet.

4 Inches is actually GREAT 1/18 scale!!!!! 4 inches= 6 feet scale!!!!!!
A MAJOR plus in my opinion!!!

As for the reaction, Corgi isn't exactly known for "on time" delivery. I usually buy my Corgi at Asheville Die Cast in Asheville, NC and I kid with the owner that "Spring" really means an Australian spring. Asheville Die Cast:

The owner aims at the best quality at the lowest price possible. He keeps a large number of 1/43 cars at the $4-5 range. There are a number that would make good Batmobile conversion bases.

No idea about the release date - as MacWage indicated, any release date would likely be wrong anyway. I'm wondering about the 4" figures myself. Since they are going to be releasing a 1/24 (3"wink figure with their 1/24 car, I half expected the figures in the 1/43 cars to be either 1/43 (to match the car) or 1/24 (to create a full line of 1/24 figures). Throwing 1/18 scale figures at us without any corresponding cars seems a bit random to me.

According to Corgi's US site (which not for the 1st time has got more information on it than the UK counterpart) the Modern Age set is due 31/1/07.

They've also dated a couple of the figures - the 60s Batman isn't due until September! Killer Moth and vintage Batman are both due in June! No word that I can see on either Two Face or that unusually voluptuous looking Catwoman. I'm really looking forward to see what they do with Two-Face's car; I think it's my favourite of the entire 1/43rd run.

I've just ordered Corgi's gold 1/43rd 60s Batmobile. When I decided I was going to snap all of these 1/43rds up, I left it til last (probably because it's 4 x times the regular price, and I'm simply not made of money). Stupid really because it's a limited run! I've been looking for a decent priced one for a while - and Corgi must've just found some more, because they're UK site is carrying it again! I don't think it's particularly attractive, but it'll be nice to have it.

I ordered tonight. Quite pleased really - that completes the set for me (at least of the modern run).

Incidentally Spencer/Inzo/BYTB modellers - I was in a charity (Thrift) shop the other day and I saw a build your own type model (it was a Revell thing of a Spitfire). It was only a ?1 (and I know they're about ?10 because I like WWII stuff). I bought it and I'm gonna give it a go............

Lord knows the mess I'm gonna make...........

Sounds good, Real-Dark-Knight, be sure to keep us posted on how it comes along!

I wonder if they're stretching their few releases across the whole year in the hopes of being able to do more in 2008. Keep it on the "back burner" in a sense.

I actually wouldnt be surprised if that is the end of it and I don't get one (at least not from Corgi). Which will really tick me off now.

I've been undecided about all these odd special editions in the past - If you'd have asked me previously, I'd have said I have the "complete" collection; (for whatever reason) I never really included this as part of the run. & I've also convieniently ignored the raw diecast special editions (usually at about ?100 a go) from the "collection" !

I guess I should really include them...........

I know I moan about Corgi, but I do love the things they've done............

I generally stay away from the "special edition" cars altogether. There have been a few exceptions, but in general they are too far away from the source material for me to really enjoy.

The raw diecast ones really floor me, though. They skip a step in the manufacturing process, call it a "Special Edition" and charge a ridiculous price for it. If I really want bare metal that badly, I'll do what I've done in the past: buy a regular one and a can of Aircraft Stripper.
