Sorry it took me so long to make a thread...
Source: GameSpot
Just when you thought Lego Batman was as weird as it gets; Midway has anounced the eighth Mortal Kombat game... And it's a cross over with DC Comics, no joke.
Now don't worry about seeing Batman and Superman pulling peoples skeletons out and melting their faces off, MK creator Ed Boon assures GameSpot that the game will be rated T and won't feature the classic fatalities (it will feature a smiliar game mechanic, just not as violent)
You can see the trailer here
I'll be posting more news when it comes.

I hope it'll be fun like Street Fighter vs. Marvel.
Wow, I honestly never thought I'd see Sub-Zero vs. Batman. Still though, its great to finally have a fighting game using DC characters. My problem is Superman. He's too strong. |

Such great news, I'm so excited. Of course, of all the fighting games series to make a DC connection with, I probably wouldn't have picked Mortal Combat personally; I'm more into Street Fighter, Soul Calibur and Smash Brothers. But from the preview it sounds great. I simply can't wait. I just hope Robin doesn't make an appearance, LOL. |

SWEET. I would have rather had Soul Calibur vs. DC, but this should be good too.

I think it looks great but to be honest I never really got into Mortal Kombat. I don't like the "punching / fighting games" but prefer the shooting ones like Max Payne or Grand Theft Auto. But, from what I have read everywhere people are really pumped-up about this one! The graphics look good too.

I've got mixed feelings about it. I'm not exactly jumping up and down in excitement but I may rent it to try it out. From what I've read in Superhero Hype, the comments made about this game are also mixed. Some downright hate it including some die hard MK enthusiasts.

Yeah, I think a lot of the hate for this game is from the die hard Mortal Kombat fans, with the violence being toned down and all. But I think it's great. I mean, I think most of us here wouldn't want to see Batman's head actually being kicked off, or whatever.
But this is my most anticipated game on my list for this year. I think it's awesome, and hopefully it will turn out to be an awesome game. |

i love mortal kombat. those combos are always fun. while i prefer tekken or street fighter over it, it's still fun nonetheless.
they're taking out fatalities, but i think they'll still have finishes. i can see batman using his sonar thing to get bats to attack the crap out of the opponent.
thinking about it makes me want to play it so badly. there has yet to be a good dc fighting game. the last one was that JLA one for SNES, but that sucked...this might possibly start a dc stand alone fighting game.

I liked playing JL Task Force when I was a kid... Even though it was kind of a crumby game lol. All the characters had the same move and stuff
EA has the rights to do DC games right? And EA had the rights to do Marvel Nemisis, too. The only reason Nemisis 2 died was because the development team was fired. So theoretically, if EA negotiated with DC and Marvel to do a crossover game, and got third party developer who's got a good history with fighting games, they could make a Marvel Vs. DC game that would be totally awesome, right?
So why the hell are the making MK Vs. DC insted of doing that?!
EDIT
Oh wait, just looked it up and EA lost the rights to Marvel games... Still, if they can negotiate MK Vs. DC then Marvel Vs. DC should be possible.

marvel nemesis wasn't that fun. it was okay, but i wouldn't want that kind of fighting game. i think i'd prefer MK vs DC over an EA styled fighting game of marvel vs dc.
my dream game would be marvel vs dc in 2d street fighter 3 series format. wow, that would be awesome

I didn't mean Marvel Nemesis styled game, I just meant that back when they had the rights to both it would have been cool if they went to a good development team and made something more along the lines of Street Fighter or something.

but who agrees with me when i say they definitley need a free roam , like grand theft auto, game with batman. it would prob be a best seller. maybe tdk video game, if they made one, will be that way. Bat begins was ok, because we were fans of it, but we need some in depth gameplay with bats. it would be cool to be able to get out of the batmobile and be able to grapple stuff freely , and jump rooftops. |

I'd really like to see Konami take over the Batman game franchise and create a Metal Gear Solid type game with stealth, a much more engaging storyline, and make it long. EA Games tried it with Batman Begins but it just didn't work and the gameplay was kind of terrible. I felt like they rushed the game in order for it to come out when the movie was released. It had potential but just fell kind of flat.

Free roaming doesn't mean in depth gamplay. Case in point- Spider-man 2. Beat up gang, swing to another location, bring bistander to hospital, swing to another location, beat up gang, rinse, wash, repeat.
As long as we're talking alternate games, Justice League Heroes was one of DCs best games ever, Marvel Ultimate Alliance/X-men Legends is one of Marvel's best series. If they did a cross over game, they could probably make a pretty solid dungeon crawler.
