My favorite that i have read or seen are - 1 - The Killing Joke - 2 - Mask of the Phantasm - 3 - Batman Terror - 4 - Batman the Judge Dredd Files - 5 - Batman Dracula Trilogy - 6 - The original dark 1939 - 1940 stories - 7 - Haunted Knight - 8 - Arkham Asylum - 9 - Arkham Asylum Living HELL - 10 - Joker's Favor - 11 - Child of Dreams - 12 - Year One - 13 - A Death In The Family - 14 - The Dark Knight Returns - 15 - Nothing to Fear - 16 - The Chalice there are more but those are just my top sixteen.

Strange, I thought we had a thread on this but I can't find it. Oh, well - since we're in the comics section I'll limit my response to my favorite comic stories. I my favorites remain "Made of Wood" (Detective Comics #784 - #786), Year One, and "Urban Legend" (LotDK #168).
In the interest of space I only went through Batman and Detective Comics. There are several more, but these are some of the best stories that have been put out in my life. Most are self contained, and probably available at a reasonable price in the back issue bin at your local comic shop. I knew that there was a reason why I was putting off responding to this thread.
