I just spotted this over at IGN Comics.com, it's normally Newsarama that beat everyone to the punch on DC soliciatations?

IGN EXCLUSIVE: Batman: Battle for the Cowl Solicitations look awesome. The return of Azrael is great news as well. I think out of the one's coming out it's Tony Daniel's main run Battle for the Cowl...

I never did like Azrael.. As for BFTC.. Notice Two characters are gone from that pic? You can't tell by the small pic as well, but when we post the High Res one, you can. Tim and Jason are absent.. curious...

Or maybe it's just the front cover for an issue that doesn't involve Tim or Jason.

Strange to see Wildcat on the front? Out of all the characther I thought might be a part of the BFTC arc, he wasn't one I expected!

I'm glad Azrael is back though. I was a big fan of him pre-Knightfall (love the crusades period).

I reckon it's pretty effin ridiculous that they've included Batgirl, Catwoman, Batwoman, and the Huntress in the Battle for the Cowl. Imagine how confusing it'd be if Batwoman won? "Is it a male Batwoman? A female Batman? No, it's Batmanwoman!!!" And why the fiznuk would Two-Face wanna be Batman? I can see why the Dent side would want to, but the recent Nightwing storyline just flushes the idea of a two-faced Batman down the toilet.

Considering the fact that Drake is still blatantly too young, and that Azrael's return doesn't involve battling for the Mantle of the Bat, then it's obviously between Nightwing, Jason, and Wildcat.

Nightwing would be good for obvious reasons, but looking it how out of hand Gotham's about to get, Jason Todd could be a great clean-up Batman. I mean, let's face it, he knows how to deal with the streets, and get street kids on-side. Plus, he would never do anything to tarnish Bruce's 'memory' - or Batman's image, at least - by killing. Then again, Wildcat could bring a greater sense of maturity to the position than the two other candidates, and would probably be a great leader for the Bat-Family, as they'd really need to be rallied together in the aftermath of the battle.

That's my take on the whole thing anyway.

Fantastic post over at Tony Daniel's blog right now, showing the sketch, ink and final art stages to Batman: Battle for the Cowl #1.

Tony Daniel starts of with a few hint's of who's going to appear... everyone!!!

Also the sketch design shows the character progression and who will be added to each cover to show, as Tony Daniel puts it a poster images of all three covers together.

I've got to admit Since it's announcement last week, one of the title's I'm looking forward to out of the BFC arc is "AZRAEL: DEATH'S DARK KNIGHT".

For me Azrael was my first introduction into the Batman comics was with Knightfall. Created by Marvel Comics Chief Editor Joe Quesada and DC editor/writer Denny O'Neil, this marks his return since the title's cancellation in May 2003 with issue #100.

IGN Comic.com has tracked down writer Fabian Nicieza and get the lowdown on Azrael's return to the DCU, his exploration of a Gotham City without Batman and the creative process behind one of these major line-wide events.
