The first look we got of Batman One Year Later in Detective showed a return to the greatness that was a few years ago, but the looks at the rest of the Bat-characters has been anything but status quo. Naturally there are some spoilers.
Robin #148

The Boy Wonder is wanted for murder. The victim is definitely not who I expected. If you don't mind having the first 4 pages of the issue spoiled look at the preview. This should hit shelves next week.
Nightwing #118

Nightwing fights some goons in New York and slashes one of their throats. Dick Grayson then wakes up the next morning next to a beautiful red head, but don't get your hopes up too high. This isn't Barbara. Turns out that there are two different Nightwings running around. A keen eye on the artwork in the issue hints at which is Dick Grayson and whish is Jason Todd, but I still wasn't very clear by the end of the issue.
Birds of Prey #92

Speaking of gorgeous red heads, Oracle is still doing her thing, but with one less member. Black Canary has left the team to relearn her martial arts skills, a training that may just kill her. Huntress is not left as Barbara's sole operative she gets help from the Jade Canary. You may know her better by the name whe usually goes by: Lady Shiva.
Catwoman #53

We all pretty much know about Selina's pregnancy, and you can check ou the birth of her daughter in the preview at the link above. However, who is the new Catwoman in Gotham. Definitely someone inexperienced and getting help from Selina. We'll have to wait until next week to find this one out too.
What do you guys think of these new directions? Or are you just bummed that things didn't work out between Dick and Barbara?

Robin #148 isn't released this week, next week.
I guess 52 will explain why they aren't together. Or it'll echo in the Nightwing books.
BTW, who here isn't getting the Nightwing issues and waiting for the trade? Because that issues wasn't good.
And who is getting Robin 148?
You don't get it, boy... this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table.

I'm glad he and Babs didn't get together, I didn't want them to get together anyway. Should be interesting to see why.
The Birds of Prey OYL was pretty good, I like that Lady Shiva is on the team, along with that Chameleon chic.
Robin looks good, I like his new costume, and the story looks interesting from the preview pages. I wonder whos running around in the Batgirl costume.

I don't like them together, that's why. I want Babs to go find someone else who she hasn't known forever (thsu forcing her to develop the relationship from scratch), Nightwing to move past Babs and Starfire , and for Starfire to stop making Dick one of the most important focal points of her life.

Robin and Catwoman hit shelves this week. I only picked up Robin, but if any of you guys picked up Catwoman let us know what happened.
SPOILERS AHEAD
The Batgirl was not a robot, but Lynx occassional leader of the Ghost Dragons. Lynx goes back to the first issue of the first Robin miniseries. I thought she died in the War Games story though. Robin was not actually fighting her he doesn't know who he was fighting. After he had gained the advantage over his mysterious opponent they dumped Lynx's body in the Batgirl suit and ran off.
There is a person in the shadows throughout the issue following Robin, she looks a lot like Cassandra. There is also an appearance of Nyssa, daughter of Ra's al Ghul. She gets blown up though.
We get a bit of a taste of where Batman, Robin, and Nightwing have been for the past year. Apparently they left to regain trust between each other. There is mention of them being in Budapest (I can't remember exactly where, I'll edit this when I get home and check the issue). Robin returned to Gotham because he had received a note that said that Batgirl needed help. The note was addressed to Tim Drake. Things are still very cryptic though.

I was ed with Nightwing 119. Good thing I didn't buy it. But I did buy Birds Of Prey 92. I hope the art gets better, I dont know why Ed Benes left. But, anyways I'm iffy on the two new operatives, Shiva and Gypsy. It is not Zatanna, nor "Cameleon Chic". It's Gypsy. We knew that before we knew about Shiva. I hope OYL gets better.

CATWOMAN #53
REVIEW:
This is it! One Year Later (OYL). This point is a new beginning for old readers but THE beginning for new readers. In terms of Catwoman, setting her up in OYL, lets see...
Story: Its One Year Later; Selina Kyle, now named Irena Dubrovna, now has a beautiful baby girl. Because of her havign this daughter, she has given up the role of being Catwoman. It doesn't, ignore the afct that her freind, Holly, has taken the mantle.
For Catwoman comics, I only got one TPB that collected the first issues of this series. That was it. With OYL, I was planning to start buying the comics of her. Like many other OPYL titles, that was a good idea. Not only do you get an arc (of course, what other OYL doesn't?) featuring the old & new Catwomen, but with this issue you get to see a more opened and more romantic and trusting relationship between Selina and Bruce. Hell, if we remember Earth 2, this baby's name is Helena, if thats the case then we know who fathered her on that earth. Maybe....don't jump to conclusions.
To end this, this was a good issue. Despite the fact it was a setup, its still good for old readers and the same goes for new ones. OYL is looking good.
RATING: 7.5/10

So, is that all that happened in the issue? Holly is now Catwoman (something I figured would happen), and Selina named her daughter Helena. Was Bruce in the issue, I wasn't sure from how you phrased it.
I don't know if you picked up the 2 or 3 issues before this one, but they threw in the son of Slam Bradley as a potential father for the baby. I doubt that it was Bruce since he was supposed to be off with Dick and Tim re-training.

Bruce was in it. As Batman. He gave Selina toys for the babay and he has set up colleges for her in the future.

I'm sorry.. I hope it is Bruce. Maybe she went to see him, or they got together before he left.. you should know how long 9 months can last.. lol::catwoman::
