Who are some of your favorite comic book artists? You can list a top ten, or just talk about some of your favorites. Here's some of mine (not exactly in order) :
Jim Lee
Tim Sale
Andy Kubert
Neal Adams
Michael Turner
There's also others I like including Mark Bagley and Scott McDaniel. Mike Deodato Jr. does some really good work too, I'm not sure if he's ever worked for a DC title though.
NOTE: I put this in the Batman Comics section because I figured at least most of us would probably name an artist(s) who've drawn a Batman title sometime. You don't have to name a Batman artist though if you don't want to. |

I don't know any comic book artists except Stan Lee but that's because growing up my brother liked Marvel more than DC, so I grew up with Spider-Man and the X-Men. I'm glade I like DC now though. The Batman universe is way more awesome.
Wait, can the artist be someone who drew the characters for the comics? Because I want to thank whom ever came up with the idea and drew the Penguin. That person is a genius.
Some of the styles of the Batman comics are pretty cool too. I like the more realism and in depth of color. I own two, I guess you could call them graphic novels, they have the Joker in them: The Killing Joke and The Man Who Laughs. I read "The Killing Joke" twice, because the first time I just went through it and looked at the pages. Penguin makes a cameo appearance when Batman goes around showing people Joker's "Wanted" picture.
Then of course, I own four comic books with Penguin starring in all of them. I've read those like a thousand times over. But the ones that I own are greatly detailed and nicely colored, very well drawn and stuff. The thing I usually worry about is reading the bubbles when people are talking. That's why I look through at the pictures first and the go through a second time and read.

Hello Gotham. I'm Erin. Ozzy Cobblepot's Biggest Fan. Love you Pengy!
Betcha never, betcha never, betcha never thought we'd get this far.
Betcha never, never ever, betcha never thought you'd touch my heart.
Betcha never, betcha never, betcha never thought I'd surrender.
Betcha never thought you'd ever get with me.
I betcha never thought of that. |

Stan Lee is a writer, dear. We're talking about pencilers. And like most Batman villians, Penguin was invented by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, the latter of whom was the first artist to draw him.
My Favourite comic artists:
Jim Lee has got to be my hero, the complexity of the lines and shading he puts into each and every piece of work is mind boggeling.
John Romita Jr. This is the guy who turned me on to comic books. When I was 10 I picked up an issue of Amazing Spider-man that he had drawn, and I was captivated by the clean simplicity of his style.
Dave McKean. I ADORE the artwork in Arkham Asylum, I just can't read that book enough.
Alex Ross. Every one who know's of him knows he's a genious.
I'm also getting more into Lee Bermejo after reading Joker.

Anyway, I can't belive I forgot to mention Tim Sale! His use of shadow is amazing. I guess there are benefits to being colour blind! lol

Ha ha, I remember when (before I really bought Batman comics) I used to flip through the pages of Hush issues as they were being sold in stores. At first I was disappointed to see a change of artists from Scott McDaniel when I saw the first chapter, but eventually I grew to love it, and was amazed at just how cool the art looked.
I used to be a big fan of Tom Lyle also. There was an actual time years ago when I never bought Batman comics, I always bought Spider-man ones. I was really into the early - mid '90s books. Tom Lyle did some work with a Spider-man title called simply Spider-man, it was really good.
Tim Sale's art is really intriguing to me because it's different from your average comic book art. I also like how he has his own style for each character, really cool. |

Talented as he is, I reckon Alex Ross is overrated, and a lot of his work can be quite ugly to look at.

I don't question if Alex Ross is a great artist or not, but personally I don't care too much for the way he draws a lot of characters. |

So he'd/she'd be related to Joe Kubert too? That'd be awesome. They're a family of great artists. |

Ed McGuinesse is a fan of my art on DeviantArt. I don't know if I said already. I'm really proud. I am getting Dark Victory this week!

Denny O'Neil without a doubt; his comics in the 70's were almost 3D in look and he gave Batman the toughest look I've seen up until Frank Miller and his take on Batman |

Denny O'Neil is a writer. I think the artist you're thinking of is Neal Adams, who drew the Batman comics during Denny O'Neil's run as writer.

Does anyone else remember the Glen Orbik Shadow of the Bat covers? GORGEOUS. I wish they'd give that guy more work.

JG Jones always puts out astounding work. It's still a bit of a bummer that he didn't finish Final Crisis.

And Jock is pretty sweet too. Gotta love him.

The Kuberts put out really commendable work too but they seem to miss deadlines a lot which is kinda disheartening.

My personal favorite is Neil Adams for nostalgic reasons. I'm 43 and best remember the classic covers of the 70's. Some are now iconic poses of the caped crusader used on various merchandising still today. |
