Hello all
I been wanting to start collecting Batman comics but due to lack of space I can't. I seen that Batman has many TPBs and I thought I start collectiong them since it seem more easy for me to store them.

I have a few which i liked
death in the family
hush
year one
No man land
JLA: Tower of babel
Batman and son and a few others

So can anyone recommend a few Batman Graphic Novels/TPB for me and what I should stay away from?

Year Two: Fear The Reaper was an alright read.

Knightfall was great, the first 2 of the 3 were the best and then the third was ok.

Kingdom Come was a good storie b/c it takes place in a what if time in the future where the heroes now are old and the new heroes are killing inocents and Batman Supes and our heroes have to take back order. The follow up which i havent read to Kingdom Come is called The Kingdom.

I havent read long halloween, but i hear thats a favorite of many.

Batman Greatest Stories ever told is what the name describes. lol
Theres also a Joker Greatest Stores ever told.

Batman Under the Hood Vol 1 and 2 where Todd came back was good, some didnt like that idea that he came back but i liked the story (a bit confusing tho)

Thats all i can think of, ill let ya know more when i think of em (or read em)

I recommend you read Long Halloween, then it's sequal Dark Victory. They both are very heavy inspirations on the Nolan movies. They both are great looks into Batman, Gordon, Dent, and Catwoman. And it's written by Jeph Loeb, who's damn good at the characters. They also have great mysteries.

I'd also recomend Dark Knight Returns, of course. Absolute classic, great analysis of Batman's psychy in 15 years, some trademark Miller political satire and extreme violence, and some of the greatest comic book fights I've ever read (Batman vs. Joker, Batman vs. Superman)

Like Riddler said, Kingdom Come. It does well as introducing Supeman as an unsure character, and has some good moments between Batman and Superman.

And Arkham Asylum, creepy as hell and an awesome look into how Batman's villains effect his psychy, it also has amazing art by Dave McKean.

Never start with the head; the victim gets all fuzzy!

yeah Raz is right about Dark Knight Returns. Some things that come to mind to stay away from is the Batman and Lobo comics that recently came out. If you like any crosovers DC and Marvel have good ones. The DC/Marvel books that Batman is involved in is DC vs Marvel, Batman and Spider-man, Batman and Punisher, Batman(Azreal) and Punisher, Batman and Hulk and Batman and Captain America. They're all found in the 4 TPBs called DC MARVEL Cossover Classics. I got all mine on Amazon.com

and Congrats Razhwurz on 1000th post!!

The Batman/Spider-Man Disordered Minds is my absolute favorite graphic novel of all time.

I'm thinking about picking up

The Killing Joker
Justice League: The New Frontier
And if I had a lot of money, I would get No Man's Land.

I tried getting into Year One and The Dark Knight Returns but I guess I'm not a big fan of Miller's writing.

Both the recent Matt Wagner books (Monster Men and Mad Monk) are absolutely beautiful. In terms of visuals thats been some of my favourite stuff for quite a while - both of them were an absolute joy. I was never a massive lover of either Trinity (it was ok, don't get me wrong) or his Two Face story (and I can't even remember what it was called right now), and I thought both his recent Batman efforts were actually quite a step up.

I've not got The Man Who Laughs - so I can't say. Given the team behind it, I suspect at worst it'll be entertaining. It's being re-releases here soon so I'll pick it up then.

I didnt like Gothic at all really. I think it's one of Morrison's lesser entries - I thought there was quite a bit of Sherlockiana going on, and on that basis I'd probably naturally warm to it - but it didnt get me at all. I re-read it when he first got hold of the Batman title again and I didnt really like it anymore the second time.
