Slacker that I am (and I moved from an apartment to a house), I neglected to post up the new comics for last week in the panel on the left. So to make up for it here is a list of the comics that shipped a day late last week because of Christmas.
I'll be getting those. They were supposed to have arrived at my house already, but UPS is late delivering them, as usual. I picked up Lex Luthor: MOS as it was first realeased, and it was great. Billions of times better than Azz's run on Superman. Beautiful Bermejo art, too.
LL: Man of Steel was worlds better than "For Tomorrow." Azarello really did well at getting into Lex's head, and even made good justification for his actions.
I picked up last and this weeks comics last night and read through last weeks stuff.
Brief reviews, some spoilers:
All Star Batman and Robin is a waste of good art and paper. 2/3 of the book is Black Canary getting irritated at customers at the bar she works (apparently Black Canary is the costume gimmick for the bar, not a superhero identity) then beating crap out of them and the owner because she, like BAtman, is not taking it anymore. I guess she doesn't have any other real skills to find a different career because she is unhappy in her job. Robin said that the name batmobile was "queer" (ironic since Miller wrote in Dark Knight Returns that Dick named the batmobile) and they may have actually gotten to the batcave, but who knows. Also Clark Kent reads the paper and burns it up with heat vision. This is my last issue, at least until the new creative team. I don't like dropping $3 an issue for nothing to happen with the plot in 3 consecutive issues.
Batman 648 was pretty good. Decent banter between Red Hood and Black Mask. A really cool ending that will hopefully lead to next issue giving a few more hints as to why Jason Todd has returned.
I wanted to pick up Catwoman 50, but they were out. I will check a couple of other places or wait on a trade.
Superman/Batman has the most confusing plot ever going on. There were at least 3 different stories happening, but the big masterminds behind everything were revealed at the end to be Joker and Mxyptlk, so that pretty much explains why things are so messed up. I hope Loeb brings some sense to this in the next couple of issues.
Wonder Woman was pretty good even though it was just a more detailed showing of what happened in IC 3. Still a decent issue

Picked up All Star today, and I have to agree; things really aren't moving anywhere. Lots of well-done pictures, but I get the feeling that everything story-wise so far could've been condensed into a few pages.
