Would it be possible to add this particular Batmobile to your site? I have seen it in Batman #412. It is a Batmobile modeled after the 1973 Chevrolet Corvette. It was seen once in the comic issue.

Of course, tips on new Batmobiles are always welcome
Hmmm...I don't think I have #412, but I'll be sure to check it out. There was an early '70s Corvette used in Batman #246:

Thanks! |

You know, I think for the current/2006 1st Edition releases of the 1:64th(Small scale that cost about $1.00) Hot Wheels cars, I think I've seen both a gold and a red version of the 1970's car(With the red verison being rare, since I mostly see the gold 1), and I think it was a 1969 version of the Corvette, because I believe it did say "1969 Corvette". Sorry folks, I don't really know my cars that well, but the shape of it look just like the 1970's Corvette Batmobile. Since I had the link up to Hot Wheels Collectors site, I was able to look around their showroom section and find 2 pictures of the shape of the car I saw, however I should state that 1 of the pictures has the car in yellow, while the other has it as a K-Mart Exclusive in white. Wasn't able to find any pics of the red or gold verisons, but this was the shape I saw:
- http://www.hotwheelscollectors.com/lib/imageviewer/?source=sneaks&nid=null&cid=null&smid=null&ContentType=SneakPeek-HWC&sid=741
I wanted to mention this because I know that there are customizers out there, and if they see what I believe was call the "2006 1st Editon: 1969 Corvette" Hot Wheels 1:64 toy, they could maybe do a custom paint job to look like the 1970's Corvette Batomboile. Well, either that or wait until Mattel releases a blue verison of this car and then do the minor customization to make it look like the 1970's Batmobile. |

I know someone in Pennsylvania who turned his 1972 Corvette into a Batmobile. I hope to see it sometime.

South Texas Diecast has pictures of all of the variants, it's a very well done casting. I haven't gotten the K-Mart one yet, but I wanted to stop by this weekend to see about picking up the new Batmobile variant and was going to check then. I think Panzer used this one as a base for his custom 'Vettemobile (http://www.streettruckworld.com/batman/custom.html.
Yes, the '68 - '72 Corvettes were very similar. The fender vents changed from slits to an eggcrate in '70, and there were some minor changes to some trim, lights, and interior components, but no really big change happened until '73 when it lost the chrome front bumper.
Catfan, any idea who it was that did that custom? I saw a Batvette on the road a few years ago, but this seems pretty far north to bring a custom like that without having a show to come to. |

Just want to let everyone know that when I went to a Sears store recently(I live in Canada, just to let you know), I saw a 1:43 scale version of Hot Wheels 1969 Corvette done in metallic blue. This is the 1st time I've seen a blue version of this car in this scale(Other versions I saw in the past were yellow, and metallic orange). I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was part of the Hot Wheels Classics line, because I think it was done in the yellow and red packaiging, however I could be wrong.
This metallic blue version of the Hot Wheels 1969 Corvette is probably the best to use for the 1970's Corvette Batmobile in the 1:43 scale. Matter of fact, in theory, judging from the discrption of this 1970's Corvette Batmobile, it wouldn't really need any modifications to make it accurate to the comics, since that Batmobile was just a plain car with no indications that it belong to Batman(Unless the lisenese plate indicated it). But of course, you can modify it if you wish(Like adding a Bat mask or logo). |

I haven't seen the 1/43 version, but I have seen the 1/18 Classics '69 Vette and you're right - it's pretty much a ready-made version of this car. IIRC, the license plates were never shown in the comic, so if anyone wants to add a set to make it a true "Undercover Batmobile," it's fair game.
Good call, A_Spidey_Fan, thanks!

Hey spencer1984, I just want to say that I may have made a mistake on the scale of the Hot Wheels Classics blue 1969 Corvette I mentioned. I think you're right, the scale is 1:18, not 1:43. I think I either got confused or mixed up with my scales, or I forgot what was written on the packaging. Now thinking about it, the box did seem bigger than the 1:43 scale Batman Begins Batmobile's box I saw at The Bay, so it must of been for the 1:18 scale. Either way, there is a blue 1969 Corvette out there by Hot Wheels in 1 of the larger scales, and that scale is most likely in the 1:18.
I'll most likely go back to the Sears store next week and verify since I'll be around the area at that time. Forgive me for my mistake if I did make 1 about the scale. My interest in die-cast cars has really grown recently, so I'm not really a "Pro" if you will. Guess I still get confused with the larger scales from time to time. |

No worries - there's a lot to keep track of with all the various scales, and the fact that manufacturers don't always stick to a particular scale (or accurately reproduce the cars in the stated scale, for that matter) don't really help any.

That's Mark Shields' Corvette, built by Randy Hecht. His Batmobile is one of the ones in the fan car section of the Batmobile History, and you can see some more pics here.

Okay, checked out the Sears, and the scale of the metallic blue 1969 Corvette in the Hot Wheels Classics line is indeed 1:18(As well, the Hot Wheels Batman Begins Batmobile I saw at The Bay was 1:18, not 1:43). As well, all the Hot Wheels Classics 1:18 scale cars seem to state "Limited Edition" on the packaging as well.
