Goku is a fighter, he trains himself everyday perfecting techniques and becoming stronger. According to Vegeta, he is a genius when it comes to battle, anticipating his opponents moves and counter-attacking. Superman on the other hand is untrained and relies soley on his strength and speed. While Superman may have the strength, it has been proven time and time again that strength does not make a person but by how he uses it and how well coordinated they are. Because Goku trains consistently, he understands movement, knows where the body will go, and has complete control over himself. In one issue of Superman, he stated he can fly cross country trips in 3 minutes. Goku has proven to travel through galaxies in seconds. Goku's constant dedication to fighting and training gives him the advantage of knowing how to tackle every possible situation with a way to tip the odds in his favor.
Superman's projectile attacks are limited. Take for example his battle with the Doomsday clones on Themescara with Wonder Woman and Batman, he used his heat vision at full power thereby draining his strength too fast. He later said he could never do that again for fear of killing himself. Goku on the other hand has always attacked at full power and does not slow down. His most devestating attack would be the Spirit Bomb which would leave him weakened but I doubt he'd use it against Superman.
So obviously you know where this is going. Son Goku will emerge victorious. I don't think he'd even use full power. He likes to play around while fighting. He's constantly testing his skills against opponents. So he'll fight in normal mode, when he's calm. It might not be enough to fight Superman so he'll use Kaioken. This will increase his speed. Then tip the balance in his favor, he'll transform to Super Saiya-jin 1. This is where the real fight begins. If he goes beyond Super Saiya-jin level 1, the fight is over. Super Saiya-jin 2 - 4 is a guaranteed victory for Goku. With each change, different attacks and powers are used. It will overwhelm Superman who's only limited to the same powers.

really? goku?
haha i like goku as much as the next guy, but to me it feels like all those fast punches dont do much damage. for dbz characters, it's all about their ki blasts, and they all take a while to charge up for. i think it would be a stalemate.
if only superman can go super kryptonian. lol.

Ehh...I'm not sure. Goku is never really serious when it comes to fighting. If he was, he'd always be fighting at full strength which he doesn't. He tends to hold back because every fight to him is a test.

Dude, anyone remember in DKR when Superman survived an uber-nuke?
Yeah, he could take on Goku's ki blasts.

I don't know much about Dragon Ball Z, so I can't comment much on who would win. From the things I've heard DBZ fans say, Goku seems almost invincible. It sounds like as the seasons went on, he would gain new abilities that pushed his skills into further extremes.
As for the portrait, the yellow gradient with black speckles is an interesting background choice. Lighting and proportions look really good too. My only slight gripe would be how scratchy the outlines are. It seems to weaken the emotion in Superman's face slightly, but overall, this a pretty cool piece.

I think Id go with Superman on this one
first of all because superman's WAY cooler,
but also because superman can recharge his strength through the sun, and from what i remember about dragonball z, i dont think goku has anything like that
also, like stated above, he survived a frikkin massive nuke in the dark knight returns
and as far as speed goes, look at the first superman movie! he can fly SO fast the he can make the earth turn backwards |

Personally I think just about anyone's cooler than Superman.
And if it's a powers test, Goku, hands down.

Gotta love the Silver Age. Actually if I could draw I'd have a go at a spoof Silver Age cover, and see if I could make it absurd enough to let it pass for genuine. |
