After discovering how bad the new "Man of Steel" Metallo was, I had to do something about it. Here is the revised figure:

The figure was completely repainted, plus I added wrist articulation and a scratchbuilt multibarreled gun to replace his "section of sewer pipe" missile launcher. I think he looks much better now.

I didn't go crazy, just a quick custom. You kiddin'? That's a whole world of a difference! The darker colors are much better quality and the red makes for great highlighting (I assume it's accurate to the actual look as well). The new blaster also looks very nice. Excellent job.

Thanks! Yes, these pictures are pretty accurate color-wise (both the before and afters). The bulk of him is a Testor's metalizer paint that is supposed to replicate the color and shine of real metal (titanium in this case). The red bits are a copper that I mixed up, and the eyes and teeth were straight from the bottle. The gun is a Rustoleum bronze with barrels made from aluminum tubing.
I'd forgotten how much fun it was to do a custom figure. I think I'm going to try another one next weekend.

Thanks, guys! Yeah, I've not been happy with any of the Superman figures. I was hoping Metallo would be different, but oh well...at least I got a chance to get back into customizing.
I lucked out a bit on the career front: my 9-to-5 is graphic design, so it actually falls along my lines of interest. A bit more routine than I would normally prefer, but it certainly has its advantages.

You know, I though Metallo was a not bad looking figure before, but your custom makes it look almost 20, no, 40 times better. |
