It's just the same as MacWage, but with a "better" name.

It was given to me on a historical pirate forum, by an Englishman friend picking on me in a reference to Calico Jack/John Rackham (an overrated weil-known pirate) and my interest in tartan/Scottish stuff.
(I am a kilt wearer and kiltmaker.)

Awwwwww... I liked Macwage. Oh well.

So what do we call you now? Tartan or Jack?

Interested in Scottish stuff, eh? Try our national drink, Irn-Bru. The real reason it's banned in the U.S is it's just too damn good! Nice with vodka also.

I LOVE IRN BRU!

I am also friends with the US importer (the one that makes the US-legal version. The OFFICIAL reason is one of the dyes, which Peter changed for the US version.
I have a royal blue PHENOMENON cap I wear regularly.

Oh, I like the Batkilt name, too. I have Batman-related kilt pictures in a folder named: BatNKilt

I was wondering if you were one of the guys from one of the kilt forums that followed a link over here. Maybe not.
GREAT to have someone else interested in kilts and Batman.
That reminds me . . . I need to get one of the larger The Dark Knight Batman figures and add a kilt . . .
(I have one of the WB Store ones in a belted plaid ("great kilt"wink. I was planning to add a blade (or lightsabre) and targe, but never have.

I apologise if this is out of place, but one reason I love visiting the States - and Canada too for that matter - is just how friendly people generally tend to be. Over in the UK it's quite normal for the American stereotype to be that of someone totally ignorant to anything outwith the States. How that differs from the majority of us Brits being ignorant about our own kingdom I dunno!

Besides, anyone who knows just how good Irn Bru is aint half bad!

Oh,
Isn't IRN BRU also a cure for hangovers?
I've only had one and none was available to test that legend then . . .
(Oh, I was drinking legal moonshine and drank less than the Scotch -or dark rum- I usually have in the occasional night I drink.)

So, where in Auld Alba do you live, if I may ask?

For some people it tends to do the trick, yeah. On the rare occasion I get a hangover from drinking Irn Bru is most definitely the medicine!

I live in Paisley, which is just outside Glasgow. It's an odd mix of having some lovely buildings in terms of the architecture and style....and the age old Paisley problem of drugs and crime! As I said in another thread, we could do with a Batman of our own really!

Yep, a place that "pops" up in Scottish history a few times, and for more than being the namesake for that weird pattern . . .
Didn't realize it was a drug area now. Oh, my problem with Scottish specifics is more in the 20th century. I know some about a few places, but less on recent history in most. There just isn't much Scottish news that makes it over here. The last election, where the SNP won so much, got virtually no coverage.
I do better on the general culture than specific places, at least.

Oh, and the UK international news seems rather slighted to London and that general region. Not much else makes mention over here, unless it is especially bad or bizarre. At least Scotland gets more mention than Wales. I wonder how many people over here are even aware Wales exists . . .

I would agree that the Shortbread tin/Walter Scott-Burns Romantic picture is what most people think of when Scotland is mentioned, for better or worse.
