I first became aware of Batman from the 1966 series. I actually saw the premiere episode on 12 January 1966, and was immediately hooked. My interest faded out in the third seaso, because I hated the way the show was being done, but became interested again in the early 1980s.
My interest in things Gotham really came back in 2002, when the 1966 series came back to TV Land. By this time, I was interested in the comics, and learned about Catwoman. I always had loved her, and her comic became the one I got.
Over the past year, I have met the cast from the 1966 Batman series, and I especially love Julie Newmar and Lee Meriwether.
I also operate a Web site on the 1965-74 ABC crime drama The FBI. And I am writing a fan film I hope to produce within the year, Batman 1969. This project pays homage to the two 1960s shows that interest me, and also has elements from the comics as well.
I look forward to further involvement on this nice board!
Great site you've put together, it sounds like you've got a lot of good projects going on. Nice to see that you're considering Schenectady as a shooting location.

Funny you mention this. While I grew up with the 1966 version, the series led me to the comics in 2002, and to the current Catwoman comic. I also like the darker versions, and my planned fan film will reflect that as well. I much prefer the Bat from the Golden Age of Comics, someone who is more brooding. One graphic novel that I am taken with is Batman: Thrillkiller. That was a really intriguing story.
While I'm not too into the 60's tv show now, I loved it when i was a little boy. I have very strong memories of not being able to wait for it to be on, and wondering how Batman was going to get out of the cliff-hanger.
Also, I just want to say that Juile Newmar is still the ONLY Catwoman to me. She was the best and I don't know if she can ever been topped.

I loved Batman when I saw its premiere on 12-13 January 1966. I enjoyed that show very much! I still consider it significant, though I also know how campy it is.
That said, I have met the surviving cast members. I especially LOVE Julie Newmar and Lee Meriwether. They are sweet! Adam West was a gentleman with me as well. My meeting with Yvonne Craig did not go so well, but it could have been an off moment for us both.
Anyway, I really became a Gothamite in 2002 because of Catwoman. That is why I have a site on her, and I also have one on another ABC series that ran the same time as Batman: The FBI. I also appreciate the different Batman movies and productions as well, and I also get the following comics: Catwoman, 52, Birds Of Prey and Wonder Woman.
