My bio in a nutshell
My name is Darren you might already know me from the controversial thread on this site titled "Did Batman go too far?!!" which deals with death in the baman movies if you want you can read it here
http://batmanytb.com/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=17&thread_id=2181
I currently reside in Winterville NC originally from Pasadena MD born and raised I am a huge mega batman fan.
My obsession with the caped crusader began when I was almost 2 years old. Let's go back to June 1989 where my father (who was one of the original batmaniacs of 1966) had to see the movie but could not find a babysitter but realizing that dad would die if he didn't see this movie opening weekend my mom decided to take both me and my sister to the movies. Of course anyone can tell you that if you take toddlers into a movie with a lot of guns, explosions, loud screaming fans you will hear one thing WAAAAHHH!!
although my mom had to take my screaming sister out of the theater I was quiet the whole time. My eyes were drawn to screen as this figure descended from the darkness the glow of the screen reflected off my face it was here where my love for Batman materialized.
On my 6th birthday my father gave me my first comic book Batman #500 and my first Batman TAS action figures Combat belt Batman, the Joker,(I still have them) and the B.A.T.V. vehicle. I owned all the Batman action figures, virtuously every piece made by Kenner from Batman Returns to Batman & Robin and some handmedowns like the turbojet Batwing and DKC batmobile from my cousins. I had so many I was running out of space for them all My Batman Forever Batcave took up my whole closet floor My batplanes, batmobiles and other assorted vehicles took up all the space in my toy box. When I became older I grew out of toys and didn't want them in my room and sold them all at yard sales and the then fledgeling ebay till all that ramained out of hundreds of figures, vehicles, and playsets were only nine figures with little to no accessories, which I have displayed on my DVDshelf (probably the worst looking batman collection ever). When Batman Begins was released in June 2005 and Mattel started stocking the shelves with their new line of Batman action figures. My love for action figures resurfaced. After realizing the mistakes of my past I started to rebuild my collection. I have also thousands of comic books that I have been collecting since the age of six with the majority of course Batman titles.
I love everything the dark knight has been featured in from the low budget black and white serials of the 1940's, to the 1997 Box office bomb Batman & Robin (that's right you read it I like Batman & Robin wanna make something of it) to me the movie is homage to the 1960's classic TV show which by the way was so campy it almost sings campfire songs. Batman is so fun to watch because it was as if you were watching a living comic book blended with 60's culture. Anybody remember the "Batusi"? A great time piece. My favorite representation of the caped crusader was Batman: The Animated Series which in my opinion IS Batman to me, not only that each episode was a mini movie with well written plots and unforgetable character development to such two dimensional characters as Mr. Freeze who until then was nothing more than a second stringer, a diamond robber who has to stay a absolute zero. Batman TAS was also a cartoon that did away with the formuliac saturday morning cartooon that were basically 30 minute toy commercials if nothing else.
Okay I got a little carried away but hey it's Batman and we are all on a fan based website dedicated to him and the impact he's had on us all for 60 plus years.

Hey, Darren! Good to see a new, active poster. You sound just a hair younger than me. It's nice that you still have at least a few of your old figures from your childhood. Even though my Sky Escape Joker is in horrid shape, I still love the li'l guy.

As for your thead, it wasn't that controversial; we just have some passionate forum members. And it was a good topic for discussion.
Hope you enjoy your stay at BYTB.

Welcome to the board... I hope I don't drive you off with my insistant bickering and self mocking.

You think that was me being passionate? That was one of my most half-assed defences on this board... I was really just bringing my view to the table. Now Spider-man 3; There was me being passionate.

That is a heck of comic to be your first. That had Az-Bats fully taking on the mantle and taking down Bane. Great story and an awesome cover. It looks like we got into comics at around the same time ( I start a month or two earlier). Only thing is that I was over twice your age then.
Welcome to the boards.

Yes I do have a few found a couple more when I was cleaning out my garage which rounds out to this
1989 Toy biz Batman (who didn't have one of these)
Batman Returns
Bruce wayne (just found him)
Arctic Batman
Aero strike batman (possibly Tec sheild because he's bare)
Batman TAS/AB&R
Combat belt Batman (battle worn wouldn't give him up for the world)
Robin
Joker
Infrared Batman
Bruce Wayne (complete)
Duo force Victor Wing Batman (also complete)
Batman & Robin
Battle gear Bruce Wayne (complete)
Razor skate Robin (complete)
Bane
Batgirl
Legends of Batman
Crusader Batman (complete)

That was one of my most half-assed defences on this board... Take it easy. I wasn't referring to you or anyone in particular. I was simply letting him know that it wasn't that controversial.
