Today is a day to remember 'cuase 2 years ago Superman died(literally)
Christopher Reeve is known as Superman for more than 3 generations, but in an unfortunatly in a terrible accident On May 27, 1995 Reeve was paralyzed from the neck down after being thrown from his horse, "Buck," in a cross country riding in the Commonwealth Dressage and Combined Training Association finals at the Commonwealth Park equestrian center in Culpeper, Virginia. It was the second of three trial events in that equestrian competition
But Superman's cape wasn't cut at all. In a glorious moment where John Williams' theme must be played, Christopher reeve became a true superman when he said "Nothing is impossible" he made a fundation and he still was a hero(pretty much like Oracle but male version)
But in 2004 he died(not cuzz kryptonite or Doomsday) of a heart attack
but now on 2006 we are still remembering him, and in this year the movie that he wanted to made but he cudn't it is completed in his honor.
In my opinion Brandon Routh will NEVER be like Christopher reeve cause he was like Superman himself said:
"The only and original..... Superman!
"He made us beleive that the man can fly(September 25, 1952 ? October 10, 2004) "
So i think he deserve this thread so we can remeber him...

Not to suggest a personal agenda or anything (I don't know much about this reserach anyhow), but I came across an article that I thought was interesting. I always wanted to learn about Reeve's actual viewpoints on the war he was fighting, and this gave a lot of insight into his thoughts over those that stall the advancements in technology that could've prevented his premature death. Superman was quite the liberal actually.
Christopher Reeve?s anger sharply focused on America?s politicians and religious leaders, and the way they have, in his view, impeded research in therapeutic cloning and stem cells - research that might otherwise, by now, have led to human trials of drugs designed to regrow the nervous systems of people like Reeve.
?If we?d had full government support, full government funding for aggressive research using embryonic stem cells from the moment they were first isolated, at the University of Wisconsin in the winter of 1998 - I don?t think it unreasonable to speculate that we might be in human trials by now.?
?We?ve had a severe violation of the separation of church and state in the handling of what to do about this emerging technology. Imagine if developing a polio vaccine had been a controversial issue,? he says. ?There are religious groups - the Jehovah?s Witnesses, I believe - who think it?s a sin to have a blood transfusion. What if the president for some reason decided to listen to them, instead of to the Catholics, which is the group he really listens to in making his decisions about embryonic stem cell research? Where would we be with blood transfusions??
Stem cells have the ability to grow into any kind of body tissue, and he can see why those derived from fertilised eggs have sparked an ethical controversy, he says. But why the hold-ups and objections to therapeutic cloning, or somatic cell nuclear transfer, in which a patient?s DNA is transplanted into an unfertilised egg to create an embryo?
?Some religious and social conservatives say that that egg, by itself, is an individual. I find it hard to understand. If that egg is an individual, it means it has the same status as a living human being. When human beings die, the next of kin ordinarily have a funeral. So if you follow their logic, women should be having funerals for these so-called individuals that they lose every 30 days. I know it?s a rather cynical way to look at it, however, it?s very important to look logically at the problem, rather than emotionally.?
Logic has its limits, though. ?I do have an emotional response, sitting here, approaching my birthday, to opponents who do not have a consistent moral point of view,? he says. ?I?m angry, and disappointed ... I think we could have been much further along with scientific research than we actually are, and I think I would have been in quite a different situation than I am today.?
?I have moments of anger. But am I in despair about it? No, I?m not. Despair is a very bleak word.? When he feels frustrated, he says, he turns his attention to his family, or to the numerous projects he?s immersed in: the foundation, publicising the new book, writing speeches, examining screenplays he may direct.
?Not letting negativity get the upper hand is really, really critical. Not only to your mental outlook, but literally to your physical health, because if negativity?s allowed to fester, it causes health problems.?

brandon routh is the new genereation of superman
As true as that is (and it is true, and hopefully for many Films to come), its really difficult to imagine someone ever being identified with the role quite as much as Christopher Reeve was. I thought he was an excellent Superman, but better still as Clark Kent.
I'm a big fan of the Fleischer Cartoons, George Reeves, Lois & Clark, Smallville, Superman TAS and the actual comics - but if you say Superman I'd say Christopher Reeve.
I bought a book recently all about the George Reeves show, and it made me realise that to a certain generation of people, GR really is the definitive Man Of Steel. I don't think there would be much doubt though who the world at large thinks of as Superman.
The interview Caleson has copied is interesting. His comments on the prevention of medical research are very eloquent. If I'd been him, in those circumstances, I'd have been a lot more damming of the people/governments/bodies that I saw as blocking my chance of some sort of normal life. His dignity in difficult times was inspiring.

i know to alotta people believe that chris reeve is THE superman...and i'm sure he is, but i wasnt born until a couple years after the movies came out. and i havent had the chance to get into them...i tried the first one, but got bored out of my mind; things were moving too slow. being a teenager in the year 2006, i need things to happen fast and new things to come. even getting new cereal excites me, lol.
and....is there, was there ever, a REAL batman? to me, i respect michael keaton, kevin conroy, and christian bale all equally. heck, i even respect adam west. i guess for batman, it's all about the music. and batman '89 wins that one no doubt.
I never got into the Superman films, I just didn't like the character of Superman; I found him dull.
However, Christopher Reeve was quite talented; I love two of his films, Noises Off! and Deathtrap, both co-staring Michael Caine and both excelent movies.
Never start with the head; the victim gets all fuzzy!

if you analize and compare supes return with supes the movie they have almost the same scenes.
this is why:
1 Clark says a lot of allusions to the original film like:Swell! Huh?Lois!I'm always 'round
2Jor-el' dialogues are taken out from the original film:"You will travel far my son.....""You will see my life trough your eyes.....""In this fortress of solitude we will discovered the secrets of the galaxy my son... "
3Lex' plan is the same: -Kitty what did my father always tell me?-You're loosing your hair!-No the other thing!-Oh Get out!-Land!what the people most need is land, my father use to tell me:everyday they make more money but.. land is something you can't build"
original film"Mrs. teschmaker what did my father use to tell me?-Get out!-No he used to tell me that they make money everyday but... they dont make land"
Lex luthor wanted an island just some few deatils like the missils, kryptonite and giant krypton island.
4.The sequence is pretty much the same:
SR: ST:
1)Krypton opening and star sequence 1)Krypton and space travel sequence
2)Kent farm 2)Kent farm and falshbacks
3)Metyropolis and introduction of 3)Metropolis and re-introduction of
characters friends
4)LOisrecue from helicopter 4)lois' rescue from airplane
5)Supes saves people aroudn Metropolis 5)Supes saves people 'round the globe
6)Supes vs. Lex luthor 6)Supes vs. LL's destruction
7)Supes vs.LL's destruction 7)Supesvs. Lex and goons
8)Saving Lois 8)Saving Supes
9)Supes fixes all 9)Supes fixes the earth geography
10)End (supes flies toward camera) 10)dsame
SR: ST:
1)Krypton and space travel sequence
2)Kent farm and falshbacks
3)Metropolis and re-introduction of
friends
4)lois' rescue from airplane
5)Supes saves people 'round the globe
6)Supes vs. LL's destruction
7)Supesvs. Lex and goons
8)Saving Supes
9)Supes fixes the earth geography
10)dsame
So i consider SR like a tribute an allusion to chris reeve
