From The WB -
With "Spider-Man 3" hitting theaters this summer, Kids' WB hopes to capitalize on the anticipated blockbuster by picking up Sony's new animated "Spider-Man" skein.
"The Amazing Spider-Man," from Sony Pictures TV's Culver Entertainment shingle, will launch sometime in early 2008 on the CW's Saturday morning Kids' WB block.
The toon will focus on the start of the Spider-Man mythology, beginning with Peter Parker coping with his newfound powers as he enters his junior year of high school. Greg Weisman ("The Batman" will serve as supervising producer, while Victor Cook ("Hellboy: Blood and Iron" is producer/supervising director.
"We'll have plenty of resonant material for the Spider-Man fan, while engaging the Spider-Man novice with the same thrills we experienced when we were first exposed to the character," Weisman said.
The "Spider-Man" project was initially announced last year as part of Sony's plan to launch Culver Entertainment as a direct-to-consumer shingle (Daily Variety, Aug. 2). Sony originally announced "Spider-Man" as a direct-to-video title.
"Spider-Man is such an important brand for Sony Pictures and we're thrilled to keep the momentum going by taking it back to television with an animated series on Kids' WB," said Sony Pictures TV co-prexy Zack Van Amburg. "It's also an excellent way to launch Culver Entertainment."

I'm not going to look forward to this... The last three Spider-man cartoons were pretty cheesy; so this one will probably be right out of my alley.

Razhwurz - if you're thinking of the 94 to 98 animated series, I'd have to wholeheartedly disagree! I'd put that series right up there. I think it's the definitive Spidey outside of actual comics. & I REALLY wish Marvel would release the whole blinkin' lot on DVD (althought the 5 individual discs definitely are better than nothing).
I personally didnt like the MTV version. I just couldnt get my head round it. |

Yeah the story was good in the first one; but the VO was stuffy and the animation was a little to jumpy... I just have a lot of trouble watching it these days. Not to mention the final season got a little campy; particularly with the kiss ass Stan Lee cameo.
Spider-man: That Stan sure is a great guy!
Madam Webb: He sure is!
Spider-man the Animated Series
Dr. Cox: Oh my God! I just gagged and vomited at the same time. I gavomited.

Stan is my idol, but even I won't talk about that respect in a form similair to Adam West Batman talking about law inforcment agents.
