Oh... You were refering to the size of his actual jaw...
Razhwurz unhinges his jaw and inserts his foot in his mouth
Yeah, they're pretty much going with what John Romita, Jr drew; relatively thin, with no underbite and a jaw which can stretch to a gigantic bite, but Venom dose actually close it. (Some people just leave his jaw hanging all the time)

Dude, his mouth is closed in these pics; so we can't get a gauge on his bite size. The image we saw earlier didn't have a logo, so it is not the final design!
Again look at the merchandise. Hasbro, Sideshow, and Medicom all use the impossibly unhinged jaw.
This is exactly what the merchandis looks like, note there is one ancilary desing with a tiny mouth, but the main design (Second row, first and second from the left) has a giant mouth an big tougue.
P.S. Ironically, Todd McFarlane drew Venom as a muscular Black suit Spidey with a smily mouth added. The "unhinged" jaw, "Gene Simmons" tongue, and the green "goo" were all added by his succesor, Erik Larsen.
when i said drew on i was actually referring to the trailer/ still shots of venom from the new trailer...in which his mouth looks small and silly and not impossibly unhinged...i think that when i said "looks like someone drew on a mouth" that you thought i meant those concept drawings...well i didnt lol, if you look at the still shot of him shooting a web from the newest trailer, you'll see it looks like he's just smiling, which looks corny, instead of having the trademark venom jaw. also i said I didnt like the way it looked thats a matter of OPINION. i dont see why you would want to bicker about someones opinion razhwurz. my opinion is it looks corny, your opinion is...i dont know what your opinion is. there, settled

TDK666, when have I said anything about whether or not something looks corny? All I've talked about is theories and the facts supporting them:
Your theory: Venom's jaw isn't unhinged.
Facts supporting your theory: Two split-second shots in the trailer.
My theory: Venom's lower jaw comes stretches an enormous distance from his from his upper jaw.
Facts supporting my theory: Five action figures, four statues, a kids book, and every single piece of concept art released, or leaked, to the general public.
The jaw is an articlated area... Just becaused it's closed for a second of footage doesn't mean it will be closed for the 30+ minutes Venom's in the movie.

lololololololololol it is AWE INDUCING TO ME how you can take someones opinion and TURN IT INTO AN ARGUMENT. it started off as me minding my own, saying i dont like venom. then razhwurz jumping to defending anything that even REMOTELY has anything to do with him and annoying the hell out of me. i then try to explain that he didnt get what i was trying to say since he thought i was talking about the concept art and he comes back with yet another defense lolol AMAZING i tell you, simply AMAZING. God really dropped the ball when he made you

I think that this is the second time I have said this in this thread.
Don't make me shut this down. There are a few people on this board that want to discuss this movie without worrying about the sily details like does Venom's jaw come unhinged. A sentence I honestly cannot believe that I just wrote.
It would almost be better that you guys talked about if movie Venom could beat comic Venom or cartoon Venom or Ultimate Venom or if I was supposed to use comas in thsi sentence.
Quit the personal attacks. Some people are more feisty than others, but hopefully they will someday gain the maturity to reign in their emotions and not pick the fights. That is no reason to keep arguing with them. Just end it with a "well we just have different opinions and have to hope that the world will stay on its axis if we disagree."
We like to keep thing peaceful around here, and you rabble-rousers need to cut it back.

Me too. It's not the Gene Simmons tongue in itself that I don't like in the comics, it's when artists draw it haning open, splattering drool everywhere in EVERY SINGLE PANEL. That makes him look like a dumb dog that doesn't have enough sense to close his mouth. I remember reading the Larsen-illustrated story with Spidey's "final" showdown with Venom on a deserted island about 15 years ago. Every panel, Venom looked like he was trying to make out with Spidey because of that perpetually protruding tongue.
I didn't like McFarlane's rendition of him, either. Not at first, anyway. In Amazing #300, Venom actually looks... kinda lame. Like Rawhurz said, he was pretty much a slightly larger black costume Spidey with a smiley mouth added. It wasn't until later that McFarlane developed the more familiar Venom look, minus the GS tongue and all. He generally just didn't look very menacing right at first.

i don't know if anyone saw this, but if you pause at certain scenes of the newest trailer posted on this thread(like when spider'mans on the cab in mid-air and someone says watch out you see venom swinging at spider-man, pause before he hits spider-man, if you look, venom has no teeth and is mouthless, like spider-man) you'll see that venom appears to be able to hide teeth and look like spider-man(also like toxin, if you dont know who that is, here are links, the first one is toxin when he's mouthless, the second one is toxin when he shows his mouth. http://en.wikiped...N0101.jpg and http://en.wikiped...Toxin5.jpg) also when venom is punching spider-man around in the building later on in the trailer if you pause there you will also see him mouthless

In some of mcfarlane's spider-man run he would sometimes draw venom w/o a mouth

I wonder if that was intentional or an error. Those future-Image guys used to be pretty sloppy in those days. It seemed to me that McFarlane and Larson were the worst. There stuff looked good unless you really looked at details. Then the flaw became really obvious.

Just got back from Walmart, and they had the Spider-man 3 figures up. I picked up a super-posable black costume Spider-man, since the regular one looks pretty much just like the ones from the preivous movies. I will probably try to pick up some villains around the end of the week, when I get paid.
Hasbro did a really good job with this line. They have a couple of variants of the black costume Spidey. Probably close to 10 variants of red/blue Spidey.
The real kicker is what they did with the villains. I don't know if they are retools or what, but they have Rhino, Doc Ock (looks a lot like the Spider-man 2 figure), Green Goblin (again looks very similar to the figure from the previous movie), Kraven, Scorpion, and Lizard. This is in addition to two variants of Sandman, two variants of New Goblin (that's what it said on the packaging), and around 3 different Venom figures. None seemed to be shortpacked since I was able to find every one of those (didn't buy them, but they were there).
I don't remember seeing a Batman line handled like this since The Animated Series. Imagine if we had gotten something like this for Begins with a bunch of re-imagined villains in scale with a Begins Batman figure. Then again we can't even really manage to get a decent number of villains from the comic line and they have 65+ years of history to pull from.

That may not wind up in the movie, many of the shots in the trailer are apparently unfinished effects shots. It may be in the movie, though. They're apparently taking a lot of cues from the Ultimate Spider-Man version of Venom. In that story, Peter himself looked normal in the black costume, then the costume morphed into the Venom head when he lost his temper. It'll be interesting to see if that's the way it is in the movie.
Me and my nephew saw the SM3 stuff this weekend. The limited edition black costume Spidey we saw at Wal-Mart looked fine, but most of the other figures were disappointing. Subpar sculpts and articulation all the way. Rhino looked particularly bad. The Lizard had a pretty good sculpt, though. Didn't see Doc Ock or the Sandman. I like the other Hasbro Marvel stuff so far, but this line looks like a bust if it doesn't get any better than this. Of course, keep in mind that the main SM3 line is aimed at kids, while there will be other SM3 figures in other lines-- such as a MArvel Legends wave-- aimed at adult collectors.

it showed up quite alot for it to be an error though. but you could be right. But i personally think it would be cool if they made him like toxin. toxin looks like spider-man when calm and his mouth, teeth and gene simmons tounge come out when he's anrgy

Spider-Man 3 will make it to Marvel Legends... Boo yah! I'm going need a good movie Venom. And New Goblin would make an excelent collector's figure.
I the new villians in the Spider-man 3 figure series (Scorpion, Rhino, Etc.) I belive they use the designs from the video games.
As for the "Sealed" mouth on Venom... I regret bringing this back up... But it's in the concept art, on the bottom right. So it's not likely to be an error.

Well, I hope this isn't still a touchy subject. But the Spider-man 3 official web blog posted an interview with E.J. Krisor; the illustrator who did the Venom concept art. He talks a little about the design (mostly about the webbing and the task of making an illustration that can work in reality)
