Without taking this topic too far into inappropriate territory, Raimi was definitely using the organic web as an ejaculatory metaphor in SM2. The whole power loss & inability to shoot web/impotence story arc was pure Freud. It was the one part of the movie I got really sick of and disliked, just because I felt it was too drawn-out and ridiculous.
Anyway, that's a bout as far as this line of conversation can be taken on this board. Let's just leave it at that.

Just got back from seeing this.. My dad took my son and me as a Guys night out thing..LOL
Anyway, I thought it was good, I'll have to see it a few more times to let it really sink in. Better than the first, but I'm not sure about the second.
I really think that Venom (not black suit Spidey) needed more screen time. He really should have wrecked New York for a few days before the final showdown.
All in all.. it was good..

I've just got back from seeing it.
The place was packed! Last time I was in a cinema that full was when Superman Returned.
The Film; it was alright. I've not been a great fan of the previous two, I thought they were ok, but not fantastic, and the same applies to this.
If you're a Spidey/comic/superhero fan then this is definitely worth seeing at the cinema. Tobey was good, MJ is simply delicious and everyone else was fine. Costumes were cool, the score was good and I liked the swing scenes (they seemed to look less like a videogame this time). I agree with Beyond; I spent most of the film waiting for Venom, and he appeared with only about 15 mins left.
I've said this on here before and I'll say it again, more than anything, I'd like Marvel to release the whole of the mid 90s SpiderMan animated series on DVD. My great hope for this film was not that it would soar in the way the previous two didnt (for me at least), but that it would make Marvel want to cash in a release the full seasons of the animated series on DVD! Doesnt look like it will happen. I think we'll get Adam West's Batman before we get those.
Good but not great. |

am i the only person who thought it was better than the first 2? yeah it had its drawbacks, but the coolness is more important to me than anything else. this movie is way more entertaining than the other 2.
people need to stop studying and criticizing movies and just watch movies for what they are for...entertainment. to me, a movie is good if it gives u a good feeling, and keeps u entertained. but thats just me, everyone has their own definitions for "good" movies.

I thought The Movie was awesome, it was great to see Venom, in it, I really did like The Scene where Spiderman and Venom are fighting, and I thought it was great to see Spiderman figuring out how to stop Venom, that was a great Scene, and it was great to see Harry helping Peter fight Sandman, and Venom, I can't wait to see Spiderman 4, I sure hope they make Spiderman 4, it is going to be great. No, that's what my brother said.

Yes, thats true Phil, and it's a comic adaptation, so it's important it's recognised for what it is. However, if it simply doesnt really do it for you then that's the way it is too. There is stuff that I quite like about all 3 movies (the fact that they're Spidey films for one thing!), but fundamentally I'm just not crazy about any of them.
Also; although on 1st glance they look really good - if you look closely at the SpiderMan 3 action figures they're pretty poor! But that's probably for another thread.
I'm off for coffee and breakfast in Starbucks, with Up Up and Away!

I really liked the bit when he was receiving the key to the city, and the band played the '67 theme tune - I don't remember hearing that being squeezed into the previous 2 films (?). It was a nice touch......

It's funny because I don't remember it in either, and I'd have guessed I would've remembered that. It's on the CD to number 2 (in it's original version), and it's available for next to nothing from countless Amazon sellers, so I've just grabbed one. Everyone remembers that show with such warm nostalgia, when in reality it was largely poorly animated and acted, and the best thing about it was the theme tune!!! I guess it was a product of it's time.

I liked Stan Lee's little part in there. I was watching the other Spiderman movies and Daredevil, on the weekend, and I just realized that he has a little part in all those movies, so I'm sure he's in all his other movies too.

Yeah, he turns up in everything. Bless him (he's earned it). The cameo that made me lol in the cinema was the postie in FF, it was appallingly daft - but kinda sweet. & by a country mile it was the best bit of an otherwise bad film.
