Basically they did a study of children and adults to see how the saw different fictional characters. The article focuses on Batman, Robin, and Spongebob Squarepants.

Basically both groups saw them as fictional characters. They indicated that Batman would see Spongebob as a fictional character, but the kicker was if Batman thought Robin was real or fictional. The adults indicated that Batman would believe that Robin is real, but the children did not.

Is this some kind of indicator of the lack of popularity of Robin with kids? Sure Teen Titans has been around for a while, but The Batman is just now including him. Pretty interesting. I know from the time I have spent with (which doesn't amount to much) don't even acknowledge Robin. Usually it is Batman and Joker mentioned.

I know when I was a kid I seperated Power Rangers and Batman in my head; but that would make a great cross over.

Batman watching Sponge Bob, I shudder to even think.

I'm a little confused by the bar graphs. Did they quiz the exact same amount of kids as adults and the positives and negatives ended up outweighing one another to make the result, or did they only include the favored choice? I doubt they got the same answer from all kids or all adults. Kind of interesting though.

Asking more specific questions about Batman and Robin's co-existance obviously helped the kids understand what they meant. Most kids that know who Robin is probably knew in their minds the right answer but just didn't correctly interpret the initial question.

So kids were asked, for example, "Can Batman see Robin?," "Can Batman touch Robin?," and "Can Batman talk to Robin?"
I could just see a southern, conservative 4-year-old replying "Yeah, but only in private. Marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman!

I'm sure there's a good reason for this - I just can't work it out!
