All of us here at BYTB would like to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!
What are some of your traditions? Going anywhere? Whatch or go to the parade?
This is the first year in a few that I don't work 3rd shift, my wife is working til 12 though..
But the kids are watching the parade, then when the wife gets home, we'll go to my grandma's (an adventure in itself...) then come home and put up the tree, listen to Christmas music.

I also wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!
It is merely a day of rest, since it is only my father and me; we're not doing a whole lot. And I have to leave the house by 3 a.m. tomorrow morning, because I have to work at the local Macy's. But I am sure glad to be home, and hanging out here!

D'you know, until 2 minutes ago, I didn't even know what Thanksgiving was!
I've honestly no idea how many times I've wondered what it is, and I know I've asked people in the past, but no-one ever knew the answer. Until I saw this thread - and finally got round to looking it up (on Wikipedia,) I've always wondered but never known!
Although I'm not a religious person (I sort of believe in something, but I don't really know what), I love churches. I think they're fascinating, gorgeous old buildings. My girlfriend and myself where coming home, driving through Bedfordshire (about 50 miles north of London) earlier this year (end of summer) on a Saturday afternoon. We stopped in a wonderful old English village and had a look round the Church - which coincidentally had an open day in the tower and we watched a demonstrating on Bell-Ringing (which is something I've fancied having a go at!). I don't even know what the village was called. However, it was the day before the Harvest Festival (the UK equivalent to Thanksgiving).
Laid out throughout the church were fresh fruit and vegetables - and it just looked fantastic. I eat foreign food, spicy food, junk food, Haagen Dazs ice-cream & Cheetos (hard to get here!) - but just seeing all that food that day made you realise the beauty, goodness, significance (& sheer simplicity) of apples, oranges, tomatoes, potatoes, parsnips, carrots etc (and things that I largely don't eat).
So anyway, this Harvest Festival (or Thanksgiving) I spent the afternoon wandering round a strange church and watching Bell-Ringers go wild!
happy thanksgiving to all of you guys. i love this time of year as its the true start of the holiday season. best wishes and have a great holiday

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, my day was spent away from the computer hanging out with the family. We all went over to my siter's place for dinner.
It's an interesting concept, not knowing what Thanksgiving Day is; here in America you can't avoid it, I mean every little corner has a turkey on it for the month (or at least until Black Friday, when he's replaced by the ubiquotous Santa Clause)
Anyway, I celebrated wit the usual Pumpkin Pie (PIE!) and a duck dinner, nothing against turkey, I just love duck a lot.
Never start with the head; the victim gets all fuzzy!

My Thanksgiving was... odd. Long story short, a childish brawl ensued, I had to scoop my 3-year-old niece out of harms way, then my brother and I had to negotiate with the fools. One of the strangest days of my life actually.
I skipped my dad's family's celebration (tonight), and tomorrow, some pathetic relatives (technically, only one) are coming over to stay the night and leech off us. I know that sounds harsh, but believe me, it's justified. :|
