Those of you who talk to me regularly already know, but my neice's best friend-- I'll refrain from using her name, for obvious reasons-- has been battling cancer for several years now. It began in her hip, and spread to her lung a little over a year ago. Things have been going about as well as can realistically be expected given the circumstances, but things have recently taken a turn for the worse. When she entered the hospital for what was supposed to be her last chemo treatment for a while, it was discovered that the cancer has spread to her other lung. The doctors have said there's not much more they can do, and things are looking very bad at this point. My family has spent a good deal of time around the girl, and have grown very fond of her. she's almost become a second daughter to my sister, and we all consider her part of the family. She's a bright, well-spoken, intelligent girl, and has not let any of this get her down like you would expect. She's 15 years old, and she's a good kid. The thought of her condition worsening after all this fills me with rage at the inustice of it, and the idea of what seems almost a certainty at this point nearly overwhelms me with sadness. So all of you, take at least a moment of your day and say a prayer for this girl. Whether you believe in a higher power or not, do it. It can't hurt, and it might actually help. Do it for her.

Very sad indeed, especially at such a young age. I just knew one girl in high school that had to get chemo treatments. She was a nice gal, and as far as I know, she's doing okay now. I'll keep her in mind, Drunken Fist. We'll be eager to hear the outcome.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody. I've posted this message at every board I go to, I want to be able to show her all the words of encouragement and support, and that there are a lot of people who are thinking of her. Thanks, all.

You said she?s a good kid, as well as that she sounds like a brave kid.
As difficult as it seems, when things aren?t good, I?d try and stay positive. I couldn?t ever blame someone for being full of rage at something so sad, but I?d ask if it changes anything? The truthful answer is it doesn?t.
When I say try and stay positive, I don?t mean it in a ?buck up, what?s your problem?? kinda way, I mean in the sense that I think out of everything bad, there usually comes good. In circumstances like this, it?s shown with people who?ve never met her just letting her know they care, that they?re thinking of her (and her family), even if they don?t really know what they can say. I think the strength her & her family could draw from that might count for something. I know I was touched beyond measure by the kindness offered to me at the only really difficult time in my life.
And as well as the things I?ve just said Drunken Fist, put simply, bless her x |

The Riddler is right. Doctors don't really do anything, it's up to God whether or not a patient will live, for the outcome of every surgery actually rests on the decision of God, not the talent of the surgeon.
Good thing Thomas Edison and Benjamin Franklin didn't get cancer; surely those brilliant atheists (sinners) would have died on the spot.
Hopefully my cute little innocent nonreligous cousin doesn't get cancer, or she'll be a goner too.

Guano King, this is the last post I'll make on this thread, so whatever you might say I'm not going to answer (this thread isn't the place - my thoughts are simply with the kid that DF told us of; as I don't doubt yours are).

Thank you Guano King, you r right in what you said it is up to God so Drunken Fist if you pray and mean it, God will save her and help you through it all!!!!!
and real-dark-knight your wrong this is exactly the place for this kind of talk yes our thoughts are for the kid and this is what we think, this is what we r doing to help DF and her out, this is what will help them out.

Oh boy...
While blunt, and perhaps drifting from the sensitive context of this thread, Guano King nevertheless made a valid point; it's fine to have religious expression as shown early on in this thread by Drunken Fist, but please do not start rambling about the supposed "true" and "only" religious path. The world is filled with all sorts of diversity and you're simply trampling on that when you do so.
As Drunken Fist said, whether or not you even are religious to begin with, he truly appreciates your concern for the urgent situation of his young friend. That's the matter at hand, so let's please not lose sight of it.

Excuse me but who is talking about being religious here?
It is a lifestyle and i hate Religion. Religion is not from God.
we are firm believers and we are praying for the girl.(i know i am)
I know some of you refuse to believe in Christ but dont stop us from talking about our Savior. we are not forcing it down on anyone here.
Plus why pray to the air when you can pray to the one who die for you?

Well, I am very sorry to hear of this girl?s misfortune. I will of course say a prayer and keep her and her family and friend in my heart and mind.
They say God works in mysterious ways, that?s not true. The I.R.S. works in mysterious ways, God is fairly straight forward and simple.

We lost my Mother in law a year ago last December to cancer, she was a wonderful woman and we miss her very much. All of our hopes and thoughts go out to your friend AND you. Good thoughts make good things happen.

You all realize Guano King's being sarcastic, right? The dude's an atheist.
I'm not going into religon right now, but I'll pray. I really wish there was more I could do. There really are a lot of atrosities in this world, and all we can do is count our blessings that she made it to the age of 15, which is barely consulation at all; I just hope she' lived a better life than I had at that time.
And Riddler, Watch House M.D. on Fox, it pretty much shows what happens with Doctors; and when morons decide to put all their faith in God and none in medical presidure.
Drunken Fist... I have no Idea how your still sane, I would have probably lost all faith in God, Doctors, and every good force on this earth is I knew this girl.
P.S. Please don't put too much burden on her to stay brave, holding feelings in is bad for your health.

Well, I'll be praying, and hope that she'll eventually be alright. Guess that's all anyone can really do, regardless of beliefs you and others may believe in. I hope that everything does go alright.
Remember, life can be fair and unfair to everyone, regardless of beliefs, faiths, and if the person is good or bad, but regardless of the outcomes, there is almost always some sort of lesson that is revieled sometime after the outcomes(Granted, it may take a while), and I would think that many of us are hoping for her to get a "fair" life. |

Thanks again, everybody.
We are trying to put a positive face on, but honestly, it's a huge blow. She's been fighting this for 3 years now, and it was really looking as if she might recover. Today they said it's gotten so much bigger they just don't think there's anything to be done about it. I'm astonished at her strength, I haven't seen her be depressed or bitter or anything similar about this since it all began.
