Might as well make this the film's official thread. - Editor

Sorry Phil... My Turtle fandom died when they made the live action T.V. show... So I'm not to jazzed about the CGI thing.

this new TMNT movie looks RETARDED. they completely disrespected the TMNT i grew up with.
Splinter: The little ones were crawling into a strange glowing ooze from a broken canister nearby. I gathered them up in an old coffee can and when I awoke the next morning, I received a shock. For they had doubled in size. I, too, was growing. Particularly in intellect. I was amazed by how intelligent they seemed, but nothing could have prepared me for what happened next: one of them spoke.
Young Michaelangelo: [in flashback] Pizza!. Pizza!.

i dont really see anything that disrespects the "classic" tmnt. and the movie was made with the help of peter laird (creator of tmnt). and it's not really fair to compare this to the first movie. thats like comparing batman begins and batman '89.
from the looks of it, it's influenced by the 3 movies and the animated series.
if u dont think u'll like the movie, try playing the game. the demo is downloadable(free) at gamespot. it's AMAZING, and it's not even the finished product.

Let's hope that there is not a lot of influence from that thrid movie.
I am looking foward to this, I will probably not go see it in theatres because I don't get to see movies in theatres much anymore. The teaser trailer seems to have the same feel that the old movies and cartoon had. I also think that doing it in CG is better than live action. Sure the guys in suits were able to do some pretty cool things, but look at how much better the movements are in the trailers.
The soundtrack is not something I would get, but most movies do not have a soundtrack worth buying anymore. I just can't get into some of the new music and that is what the majority of it is.

We'll most likely go see it. Heck, we saw Ghost Rider twice, so why not? I think it has the potential to be an entertaining movie.
As far as disrespecting the old series, we kind of covered that idea back in the TMNT: FF thread.

i just started posting at bytb 2 days ago after not posting for a couple of months. I've been busy so i didnt see the thread your talking about. But i feel that cartoons today in general just arent as good as they were when i was growing up. The story telling quality was alot better(although this could just be nostalgia)it seems that todays tv is flooded with silly cartoons like ben 10. When i saw that new TMNT cartoon that aired awhile ago i was devastated. it was horrible. But not only am i not a fan of cg movies(like final fantasy spirirts within, if that was the name i forgot,i hated it the cg annoyed the hell outta me) but the character re-designs look wacky to me

My problem with the new cartoon is it's utter blandness. I grew up with the cartoon and the movies; which had high energy and lots of fun jokes. The new cartoon takes it's self too seriously while delivering nothing in comedy but a bunch of over used, blandly delivered shell jokes... "What the shell?!", "Let's kick shell", "Shell em' if you got em".
Don: Good thing these guys aren't lumberjacks.
Mike: No joke! the only thing safe in the woods would be the trees!
Now that's a good line.
Of course the interesting fact about the new cartoon, it's a rather close translation of the original comic book. So if the new movie's like the original comics, I won't like it.

oh c'mon, the original comics were amazing. they fought against gangsters, the italian mafia, the yakuza, the foot, and all sorts of weird monsters. the comics had really good stories too.
the director says the both fans of the new cartoon and old cartoon will enjoy the movie. and they have a song called bebop v. rockesteady on the soundtrack; i wont be surprised if they have some other things influenced by the old cartoon.

I doubt I'll see it. I haven't been interested in the turtles since I was 11. Unlike a lot of the other things I liked when I was a kid (like He-Man and Batman), I just don't have any interest in TMNT now. I thought I'd take my nephew to see it, but I mentioned that when we saw the trailer on TV a few days ago and he said he hasn't liked TMNT for a while now. If he doesn't wanna see it, I've got no reason to go. Guess I'll go see 300 again that weekend if I get the urge to go to the theatre.
