As you'll note in this thread, I'm totally against animal cruelty. But how's signing a petition going to help stop it? In other words, if you're passionate about this, "sell" the idea to us rather than tossing out some unlinked URLs.

Ok... well first of all, im sorry for not putting enough info about it. But i made it to support animals that are hurt every day by us. People do test on them, and they don't even care about what happens to the animals. I have seen horifying pics of animals, nothing but bones, and metal plates to cover where they have had their skull cut open. And of course it is the people of our local communities. People beat, burn, or even kill our beloved pets for their sick pleasures. Nobody deserves that, especially our pets!! I know that this petition is not much, but its a start. I have good relations with my mayor's wife, and i hope to get her involved to help this situation in my city. So please, to help me get a little bit further in our fight against animal cruelty, please sign my petition.
Did i sell it? Lol

Why look at our past President...
If I remember, did he say he had no
relations with Monica???
But I guess, if your going to have relations...
Make it a mayor's wife...
As for the treatment of poor pets and animals...
I feel the same way...
Every loving pet or animal deserves a good life...
Except predatorial type animals...
I think their just evil and mean...

I've been involved with a company that's heavily into animal rescue for over eight years now, so I'm very familiar with the horrors that can be (and are) inflicted.
That said, I'm in the same place as Cale at the moment. What will the petition be used for? Raising money to donate to rescue groups? Enact tougher legislation? Start boycotts? Organize demonstrations? Purchase facilities & equipment to start your own shelter?
I'm glad to see others working on such a valid cause, it's something more people should become a part of. I just want to make sure of what's being "sold," per se.

Well im only 15, so i don't know what i can do. The petition is just a stepping stone. This is my main idea: I had a friend.... actually he was my 5th cousin. But anyways, he was diagnosed with testicalar (can't spell) cancer. And he died after a year of fighting. And a bunch of his freinds wanted to help to prevent more cancer victims. So i had a idea called "Reading for Life", similar to Relay for Live. And what i was planning to do is at the start of every school term, sponsors would donate money for every page a student reads. And by the time of Relay for life, we would donate all of our earnings. My school wanted to do it, but since it was so close to the end of the school year, it didn't take off. And when i upgraded to High School, it still didn't take off. Maybe i could do something similar dedicated to animals?

I think the fact that you're interested is a great first step; whether you're 15 or 50, getting involved is important.
One of the first things you can do is contact your nearest animal shelter, and talk to them about what they do and what they need. All shelters need money, so fundraisers are always good. They also often need volunteers, which would be a great way to learn more about what can be done plus get some firsthand experience.
From there, you may find out more about what you can do to get others involved. For example, in NY we have "Buster's Law." Does your area have anything similar? if not, find out from the shelter people what can be done to get one created (or at least get teh ball rolling).

I got in contact with my scholar cordinator, which is the mayor's wife, and she said that she would love to help. And we would go to local vets and see what we could do. so its a start.

Absolutely. And good for you for wanting to follow through with this...a lot of people like to talk about doing things, but lose interest as teh work starts coming.
