Well, just a few days away. What is your plans? Got favorite movies to watch?

I have a few favorites (not including the Batman/JL stuff)

I love A Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart, it's one of the best!

Then, while most people find it corny, Jungle all the Way. It's the perfect movie about trying to get that all imporant toy.

Santa Claus the Movie, All the Snoopy's, The Grinch, The Santa Claus and the all time, number one pick.. A CHRISTMAS STORY!!

I think my favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone. That or the Grinch because Jim Carrey is such a good actor.

Heheh. Jingle All the Way is kinda neat. And it's even got an appearance by pro wrestler Paul Wight (AKA Big Show, AKA The Giant).

As I said in the other Christmas thread, I'm getting a little tired of the songs, but I'm also a little tired of the good movies too, like A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation. Maybe TNT shouldn't play Story 24 hours straight anymore (literally, they play it back-to-back, nonstop for 24 hours on Christmas). Not to say they aren't great movies by any means; the holiday just comes back so quickly and wears them out.

Aside from being so dark and sad, Batman Returns is definitely the best Batman Christmas film. I've enjoyed watching that in recent years, as long as I don't catch it too much during the off-season. Smile It would've been cool if they released that during December rather than June '92.

As for all gift giving, we have one occasion here (making sure to avoid my poor, mooching uncle's family) and one at the grandparents'. My brothers and I aren't exchanging gifts this year, due to money constraints, and we do stuff for each other all year long anyway, so who cares? But it looks like my mom went overboard and bought everyone a crapload of stuff, which is always welcome. Smile And she made some really good white fudge with apricot bits and nuts. Delicious.

I watch A Christmas Story (The ultimate Christmas film IMO), Christmas Vacation (Ultimate break-down move IMO), A Wish For Wings That Work, the original Charlie Brown Christmas, and of course How The Grinch Stole Christmas (Original Seuss & Jones version).

if you like that movie, good for you. But I loath the Jim Carrey Grinch... The movie is an abomination (at least to someone who is a life-long fan of the original) they ruined the character of the Grinch, they ruined the Whos, and they ruined the lesson of the movie (The fact that every Who in Whoville, tall and small, doesn't care that Grinch stole their presents, decorations and food)

They Essentially raped Dr. Seuss, Chuck Jones, and Boris Karloff with that movie.

Christmas films - I love The Wizard of Oz - I'm not embarrassed about it and I don't apologise for it. Wicked.

The centrepiece of our TV schedule this Christmas is Doctor Who & The Runaway Bride - can't wait...............

& I think it's all round Cale's on Christmas night for good white fudge with apricot bits and nuts!

Those two, plus Holiday Knights. Then you have Batman Returns, and Smallville had a nice Christmas theme ep last year called LexMas.

I find it funny that they needed a video tape to watch it; just cause Joker blocked the first airing doesn't mean they can't watch one of the millions that will follow.

I've already watched "A Christmas Story" and "Christmas Vacation" a few times each this month. "A Christmas Story" is undoubtedly the best Christmas movie ever made, as far as I'm concerned. It's also the best movie ever made about what it's really like to be a kid. nothing else had ever conveyed that so perfectly. I also watched the Charlie Brown Christmas special. I'll have to fit in "Miracle on 34th Street," too, as it's another favorite of mine. I'll have my neice and nephew Friday and Saturday, so we'll watch 1 or 2 of those movies, plus all the Christmas-themed episodes of "The Simpsons" and "Futurama" like we do every year.

No big plans for us; we have a couple of minor loose ends to tie up and we'll be all set after tomorrow. Funny thing, I haven't seen a single Christmas movie yet this year, nor have I heard too many carols...so I'm far from sick of them yet.

I like the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim and Patrick Macnee, and March of the Wooden Soldiers with Laurel and Hardy (1934). I also got to see the 1972 Christmas episode of The FBI.

That's a good call.

Alastair Sim is marvellous. He really makes the films he's been in. I love a lot of his stuff. Things like the Green Man, School For Scoundrels, all the St Trinians etc; everything seems wonderfully safe with that era of movies. Although he's not generally regarded as an Ealing actor, he's a strong symbol of that time.

I've got that (Christmas Carol) on video somewhere, over the holiday I'm gonna watch that, Wizard of Oz, some DCAU Xmas stuff & Dr Who.

Now I fancy a hot chocolate before bed............

I love that episode. big grin

I just remembered a Christmas film my brother and I want to watch this year... Santa's Slay, a horror/comedy starring pro wrestler Bill Goldberg! The plot sounds hilarious.

I actually got a cool Christmas themed California Raisin PVC at a flea market this year, so that's my new holiday decoration. 2007 is their 20th anniversary by the way.

Skipping a year of classic movies should make them more enjoyable next year. As for now, I'll probably just lay on the floor like a slug and try to ignore them. It's my only defense...
