MADAME MIRAGE #1
Written by Paul Dini
Art by Kenneth Rocafort
Cover by Greg Horn & Rocafort
Edited by Rob Levin
PLOT:
Who is this beautiful woman who appears out of the mist? As deadly as she is beautiful, she is cutting a bloody path through the city's villains, who now wear suits and have "legitimate" businesses. But who is her ultimate prey? And how does this Mirage take form? And why is her destiny and that of her sidekick Harper so irrevocably entwined? These and many other questions will be asked along with the most pivotal question of all: Who is Madame Mirage?
REVIEW:
The announcement of Madame Mirage, a new character for Top Cow created by Paul Dini of Batman: The Animated Series and now with his run of Detective Comics, had made me wait for a year for the series to finally start. The look of the character and her outfit that was so glamorous got me hooked, even though any good looking woman would do that. There was alot of talk about the character, on boards and in interviews from Dini himself on what he was going to do. Now that the zero issue and the first issue have arrived, let's see what we've been waiting for one whole year.
So everyone can know, I've decided to skip #0 and just go to issue #1. With that now know, let's move on. The first issue here gives us what Dini has promised: mystery. While we are introduced to ASI and the world this comic is taking us to, Mirage herself is the mystery and something get to know more about as the series continues. The artwork presented here was good in my opinion, because it gave us the beauty of Madame Mirage in the pages with no decrease in any quality on any page at all. So this issue, including #0 which gave us the introduction, was a good start.
As I said, Madame Mirage is a mystery to us in the book. She's a new Femme Fatale, her powers are cool because they tend to hit one side but then shift to another, and I like how it is unknown what action she'll take once she confronts someone. Leading to us to think "what will she do?". It's common to many readers, but Madame Mirage is such a beautiful woman. I love her outfit because, as Dini said, it touches upon many eras instead of just one. And while this is just one issue, I like her because she is fun, smart, and funny. When it comes to women like Mirage, and others like Wonder Woman who I also love, I don't say "she's sexy" or "hot". I say "gorgeous" or "beautiful" because it feels appropriate. I look for who they are in character, and Mirage has that which is why I'm sticking on with this book.
Overall, this issue was good. A good start. A very good introduction to the series. I forgot to mention but the noir aspect was cool. The only complaint I have is that we have to wait for some issues, plus Top Cow doesn't really give an actual date of their releases which sucks. You could miss them. But Madame Mirage is such a great character because of herself and the mystery surrounding her. Thanks Paul Dini for another great character.
RATING: 3.5/5

REVIEW:
It has been since June that we got the first issue of this brand new series by Paul Dini of his newly created character: Madame Mirage. I'm not mad, not only because I've gotten use to delays but I really enjoyed the first issue. That first issue was good, a really good start, and a very good introduction to the series. The noir was cool, it fits the universe that this is series sets in. Madame Mirage is such a great character because of herself and the mystery surrounding her. Like the solicitation; you'll never forget her, and I didn't. So now, here is #2.
If last issue's great moment was Madame Mirage driving her hostage to the airport, then this issue's great moment is her sneaking into a party that leads the ASI chasing her in all directions. Picking up where the first issue left off, this issue continues the fun of the first with no stops. This is a pretty fun character and I'm enjoying and loving her page by page. After reading this issue, it seems from how the issue is being told that Dini wants us to use our minds to follow the story, rather than just saying it to us directly. I like that because it allows the writer to take you along into the story, rather than you expecting what's to come, which could hurt yourself along the way.
We got a glimpse of them from the first issue, but here in the second, we see Madame Mirage displaying her powers more. As we see in this issue, she can change her appearance, her clothes, all at will. She can look exactly like anybody she sees, and change into inanimate objects. She can do anything and everything for her to take out a criminal one at a time, and it shows. It’s also nice seeing her work her magic and using her brain at the same time. You can see that she is very smart to outrun and sneak up to her enemies, to the point where even you won't know when she'll appear or if a person you'll seeing is really her in disguise.
Overall, this issue was like the first: great. Just like the first issue, the artwork was beautiful, making Madame Mirage gorgeous every shot. This is an issue with an exciting storyline that delivers. Because Dini is a great writer, this is going to be what the whole series will have to its issues. Madame Mirage is fun, gritty, filled with mystery with a character so beautiful that it can make anyone mad that she isn't real.

MADAME MIRAGE #3
Written by Paul Dini
Art by Kenneth Rocafort
Cover by Rocafort Superstar
Edited by Rob Levin
PLOT:
A locked room, two deadly adversaries, and one loaded gun between them. Madame Mirage finds herself in a life or death duel with ASI's most skilled assassin, and the only way out is for one to kill the other. While the fatal drama unfolds, shocking secrets are revealed about our heroine's past, radically changing the direction of the series and everything you think you know about the mysterious Mirage.
REVIEW:
Last issue was as great as the first issue. The artwork was beautiful, making Madame Mirage gorgeous in every shot. Dini is a great writer, and it shows as this exciting storyline delivers as it did in every direction in #2. Issue 3 has been said by both Dini and his wife, Misty Lee, as the chance to buy the book if you haven't already, or the last chance to see if the book is right for you. Let's check it out.
This happens to be the first issue where I'm actually concerned over the series. I guess Dini was right for this issue being a turning point. This issue is basically an origin story told in flashback. Madame Mirage is actually Angela Temple, given Harper's full name of Harper Temple, the daughters of mega-technician Alexander Temple. As the origin reveals; Angela and Harper were in business selling high advanced tech to the highest bidder. Until ASI came, hiding with the idea that they were interested in buying, and took their tech away and shot the two of them. That is why Mirage is after them, but that wasn't the concern. The concern is that Mirage isn't real; Angela is dead and it's Harper who created Mirage in her sister's image. She is holographic, nothing more. So that was a shocker because I loved the character, but....
It really questions me buying more of the title. This might seem insane but I buy the title because I love the character, but if that character doesn't exist, then maybe I shouldn't continue. Then again, maybe I should. After reading this, I went back with issues 1-2 and it seemed that Mirage happened to be real, even with that vibe from the third issue that she wasn't. So is she something that will go into life on her own? Were those scenes between Mirage and Harper just for old times sake? What? I'm really questioning this title. Again, man, Dini was right when he said this was a turning point for readers. I guess the answer will come when issue 4 comes in.
Overall....what I said above. The story was good, so my rating will reflect that. But....what should I do now?
