Anyone catch this movie yet? The critics are chopping it to pieces, but I thought it was quite good. I think that this movie is more about what Zorro is supposed to be -a friendly, caring, however dashing, reckless and neurotic hero. In the last movie, he was a lot more like Batman. He was driven by revenge and even killed some baddies, which is something that Zorro doesn't do a lot of (he does kill sometimes, but not often). I've heard a lot of people complain that Zorro doesn't kill in this movie and that isn't fair IMO.
The movie did have a lot of problems. The little kid was annoying (but there has to be a little kid in sequels, and they have to be annoying!) and Banderas wasn't as slick and cool playing Alejandro as he was in the last film. In this film, he played him as more of a normal guy.
One of the things people give out about the most about this movie is that the sexual tension seemed forced and was unbelievable. I didn't think it seemed forced, and I actually got a 'Gone With The Wind' feel off of it.

Anyway, if I'm told that I have a bad taste in movies, that's fine. I'm a Zorro fan so naturally I'm biased. Who knows? When this comes out on DVD I'll probably learn to hate it. At the moment anyway, I'm just hoping that they'll make the planned prequel.

It was a great movie, This time around their was alot more action, than in the first one. And their was good comedy (Between Banderas & Zeta-Jones) in this one . I liked their son, he very much like his Grandfather (Don Diego de la Vega) when he was young. As Zorro was very much like BATMAN in the way he fights. I really enjoyed this movie . can't wait to own the dvd .

I'm so annoyed, my brother went and lost my DVD copy of 'The Mask of Zorro' because he was dressing up as Zorro for Halloween and he was showing my mom what Zorro looked like. He forgot to put my DVD back and now it's lost! sad

Anyway, I totally agree Kal-El.
