I figure some of us may not be registered on a half dozen other forums, so we action figure enthusiasts can discuss upcoming non-Batman related items on here.
WWE Classic Superstars Series 13 looks pretty cool. The most intriguing item has to be the LJN style Undertaker. The figure has a highly simplistic LJN body yet features his modern look. It's quite fascinating that they are even making it and I'm eager to see what others they'll tackle. I also like the Mr. Perfect - not sure if I want the orange tights version or this one. I also definitely want Dean Malenko from Series 12; he was awesome back in WCW. Unfortunately the Classic Superstars collection isn't even available out here anymore aside from Wal Mart exclusive 3-packs, and anything about $12 is simply too much for these.
Here's info and images of the figures via Ringside Collectibles:
http://www.ringsidecollectibles.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=R&Category_Code=CS13
Another big surprise to me is the TRU exclusive Power Rangers Special Edition figures. This series, aimed at adult collectors, includes the Mighty Morphin' Red Ranger from the 1993-'95 season that kicked off the Power Rangers boom in America. The figure includes tons of articulation, his battle sword, and a display base. While the Blue Ranger was my personal favorite as a kid, I'm still highly considering buying this.
Here's the PR info and a photo on the figure:

I've passed on nearly all of the WWE Classic Superstars, mainly because I feel they cost about $4 too much. The one exception is when JYD came out, I had to get him. He was always my favorite growing up. I also picked up one of the Wal-Mart limited edition Hulk Hogan figures when I got my Hulk Hogan Anthology DVD set, since that was a special occasion. The only others I've gotten are a few I got on sale a couple of Christmases ago for $5 each: Big John Studd, Jimmy Snuka, George "the animal" Steele, and a few others I can't remember right now. But so help me, if they start making LJN style classic figures, I'll be sucked right in! I just hope they're under $10 each, so it won't be too bad.

The Rocky figures looked awesome in ToyFare, but they aren't available out here. I'm amazed some WWE Classic Superstars are finally getting to Target actually. I enjoyed the Rocky movie series and would be half-tempted to get a few figures, but not quite enough. And Jakks figures are simply too expensive. They shouldn't retail for more than 8 or $9, and the prices are even worse online than in stores. Still, here's hoping Dean Malenko and Curt Hennig eventually hit my area.

We have a Fan-Photos section for that, and we're currently working on a new function so you can upload your own photos to BYTB for all to see. Some folks have recently posted their photos in the "MISB or Loose" thread in the Batman Action Figures & Dolls board. So for a quick fix, check that out at the link below...

Besides, this thread is about general action figures, as in, not Batman-related.

I'm a lifelong Rocky fanatic, so I was really looking forward to those figures. There's only one store here that carries the Rocky line, and the only figures I've seen there are the background characters nobody wants. I have yet to see a Rocky or Apollo Creed or anybody notable. They did have Micky, but I passed. What's the point of having Rocky's trainer if he's got nobody to train? Aside from that, a lot of the figures just don't look very good.

I've never really thought to talk about them on here - but there are a couple of really good Eddie (Maiden) action figures.
Piece Of Mind..............

Somewhere In Time (which I think was their best studio album).......

I've got the Piece Of Mind, and I've ordered Somewhere in Time (although I've been wating for the damn thing for a while)
There are quite of these types of things from a musical background - Hendrix & Kiss are a couple that immediately spring to mind) |

That Somewhere in Time Eddie looks amazing. I only knew about the Killers and Trooper figures from 2003 or so. I own Eddie the Trooper myself. For now, he stands next to my Unleashed Obi-Wan Kenobi and NECA RoboCop.
I was just looking at Action-Figure.com's photos of the upcoming Live after Death Eddie the other day...

I wouldn't consider myself a Maiden fanatic, as I still don't have any of their records, but I'm definitely a fan. I've only heard two or three tracks on Piece of Mind and just haven't really starting looking for their records on eBay. And I've never seen any at flea markets, oddly enough.

He's got KISS, Jim Morrison, Angus Young, two Elvis, Jimmy Hendrix, Johnny Cash, and Jimmy Page. The ironic thing? He doesn't have a single record on any of theirs. He's a hard rock/heavy metal fan like me, but I know more about most of those musicians that he does.

Eddie V Obi-Wan? Thats a battle I'd like to see (although in reality, I don't think it would take long for Ben to just 'ave him!)
There's also an 18" Eddie out - I didnt post a picture because I didnt think it looked that great.
I'm definitely gonna get that Live After Death figure you linked in............. I haven't seen that one before.

If interested Cale, check out the aforementioned double disc version of Live After Death - Maiden's best Album. It's (you guessed it) Live. It serves as a greatest hits job upto the then latest Powerslave LP. That was followed by Somewhere In Time. It probably wouldnt be right if we didnt also mention Number Of The Beast. You cannot go wrong with any of those.
Never seen the Angus one - I'd probably buy that if I saw it.
I don't want to get too overloaded with music figures though - I hardly even do DC in this respect. For toys, it's Batmobiles, Star Wars and Doctor Who figures for me

They had loose items for display and would eventually sell them. My brother got a big-scale Eddie for maybe $2 and gave it to me. Then I gave it to my friend, whom I don't speak with anymore anyway. It is a bit of a dorky looking figure.
Here's Action-Figure.com's old report on the "Hell's Bells" Angus Young figure, complete with promotional photos. I'm almost certain the finished product doesn't have his hair shooting up like that, so make sure and check eBay for the real item to observe for changes. Either way, it's a good figure for any AC/DC fan to own. I especially love his cracked glass display base...

As for that Live after Death record, I usually don't buy live records and I avoid "Best of" compilations. The way I figure, if you love the band enough, you should buy their full-length albums, and I definitely like Maiden enough to get a few at least. Live albums can contain some unique performances, though, so that's a little different. I've been considering Powersalve and Somewhere in Time. My favorite Maiden songs would have to include "Fear of the Dark," "Trooper," and "Can I Play with Madness," which are all on different records of course. A lot of their newer stuff has been great too, like
Dance of Death.

It's nice to have two older brothers that also collect figures. One has the McFarlane & NECA scif/action genre taken care of as well as music and the other has Marvel. I stick mainly to DC of course.

Cale - this thread is bad for my budget!!
I've just followed your link thru to the Angus stuff, and there's a Forbidden Planet link at the bottom - they've got loads on their site that I've seldom or never seen in any of their shops (and I go in them about twice a week!).
1) Serenity disguised as a Reaver ship......
http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=35837
2) Saga At-At (I've wanted this for a while but simply haven't had funds....
http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=32634
3) Titanium Tusken Raider (whatever that is!)
http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=35529
4) TV Series Animated Intro statues - I've looked at these longingly on a number of occasions - this picture doesnt do them justice.......(& I know this is supposed to be a non-Batman thread, but forgive my indulgence)
http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=30054
5) & based on his last post, something for Drunken Fist......

Well, it looks like my initial reaction to Hasbro's Marvel line was a little too optimistic, they're releasing their second Movie Green Goblin and it looks quite cheesy.
http://www.action-figure.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=ImageBank&file=index&id=78746
Anyone see that Sota's re-releasing their Ansatsouken (Shotokan in crappy Amercian translations) Street Fighter action figures... Looks like I'm going to have to wait a while to finish my Street Fighter 2 collection. :|
And I have no idea why I'm excited by this, but Bandai is releasing a collectable Super-posable Red Ranger Power Rangers Series, including the Legendary Mighty Morphin Red Ranger.
http://www.action-figure.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=ImageBank&file=index&id=78685
Did you get a look at that! When I was a kid you had to deal with having Power Coins inexplicatly placed on their chests and Morphers that looked nothing like they did in the show.
I have no idea why, but I'm really hoping they release the rest of the Mighty Morphin' Rangers like this... Maybe they might actually give the Green Ranger his gloves and boots from the show!
Never start with the head; the victim gets all fuzzy!

I picked up the first series of Hasbro Marvel Legends this week. I was only planning to get Hulk and Hercules, and possibly Ultimate Iron Man. I wound up getting them all for the build-a-figure. they're not bad for the most part, I'll probably whip up a mini review and post it later with a few pics.

Not sure how much Doctor Who interest there is amongst BYTB'ers, but their current crop of action figures are simply exceptional. The standard action figures in this range are 6 inch and they cost £6.99. This is one of the "Deluxe" ones, and RRPs at £13.99
The newest one to be released is The Face Of Boe........

To give you an idea of how good it is - here's a picture of the one used in the TV series (it's about 9ft x 6ft - massive!). He's a good guy, billions of years old, with god-like wisdom, and he died last night!
Real Boe.........
The above picture taken by Daveac from Gallifreyan Embassy, and was snapped at the Manchester "Up Close" exhibition of Dr Who. |
