Anyone doing anything stupid for Halloween this year? I'd like to dress as Anakin Skywalker, but don't got the robe or saber, and my hair's too long. Plus I have no reason to do it in the first place really. I just wanna dress as a Jedi in public, on a regular basis. Maybe I'd get more respect.

No nothing serious. Where I come from, if you don't go binge drinking, then Halloween just isn't for you.
Hey, it was so funny (and please don't delete this post) this really hot girl wearing devil horns came over to me tonight and slapped me with this whip thingy she had, on my @$$and said 'Happy Halloween'! How cool is that?

::bbbruce:: - Sorry, I despise this holiday above all others.
It is a holiday for all good little christians to go out and celebrate a holiday whose roots originated in spiritism and superstitious nonsense. It doesn't matter to me that it has been dressed up and made to look like its a holiday for children. To celebrate it and then go to church the next day is pure hypocrisy.
a trustworthy source = History Channel
You should never celebrate anything without knowing its true meaning.
Forgive me, I'm not trying to preach, it is just fact. If you feel you are part "irish" (lol) and want to participate, hey...go for it. Just thought I'd vent for a second.

So if you're full Irish and don't go to church, you're all set
Actually, I agree with you completely about knowing your history before you jump in with both feet. That really should hold true for everything, including holidays. |

ROBO - The true meaning does have alot to do with it. I'm a Christian and as a little kid, you don't know anything except that your gong to get candy.
As you get older, you learn the true meaning of it, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy part of it.
I don't see any harm in kids dressing up and getting candy. But thats just how I feel.
I'll post my kids pics in a few.. They had fun, lots of little Bats and Robins. and only one Vader! HAHA.. lol

They look really tired, was that after going around? I bet you guys had a good time. Nice to see your son chose the appropriate costume.
This was the first year that my wife and I figured that someone would come by. We got a pretty good sized bowl of candy, and had all of one kid. Dressed in a Thing costume no less. I gave him a pretty good sized handful. I guess we can take the remainder to the nieces and nephews this weekend. So it goes.

...That's cool that you brought that up, Robotron. I like to be aware of that stuff too. But when it comes down to it, that history is way down the line and probably shouldn't bother our perception much. I like making Long Halloween Jack O Lanterns, and I'm sure I'll dress my kids as superheroes and take them Trick or Treating, assuming I do spawn a couple o' brats. It's free candy for Pete's sake.
I do have one bit of advice however; never date a girl who's birthday is on Halloween. For some reason, a lot of them turn out to be nothing more than a wretched hive of scum and villiany....

I'm Christian, and I don't go for Halloween. But you know, some people don't see anything wrong with going trick or treating, and I can accept that. But let's face it guys, it is a "holiday" where demonic spirits are celebrated.

yeah, i didnt go trick or treating this year. actually; ever since i learned about the meaning of halloween like in 6th grade, i stopped. my pastor scared me, haha.
but, i dont really know the true answer of if its wrong for a christian to dress up and trick or treat for halloween. cuz sometimes they just do it for fun. but on the other hand, it is a satanic holiday. but just to be safe, i didnt trick or treat. lol. i did wear my batman mask...but i do that all the time. HAHA
