I've debated on posting this for a number of reasons. I read on a couple of fans sites (Batman Related) that made a sick joke about him. Lets get this out of the way right now. Micheal Jackson may or may not have been a sick minded person. You have your OPINIONS and I have mine.
If we look at others, like Elvis, he had his personal demons as well, yet his music is what's living on.
What I want to remember is MJ's music. Regardless of his personal life, the man was a music genesis.
The music industry has lost a great performer and artist.
If you would like to comment on his music, please do so, but please leave the negetive opinions of his personal life to another site.

I was just watching Thriller for the first time in a long while. You could have almost have forgotten that he was the finest dancer in pop history. It's really sad to see him go.
We've lost too many people in the last coupld of years. Isaac Hayes, Bernie Mac, Ricardo Montalbon, Dom Deluise, Paul Newman, Ed McMahon, Heath Ledger, and now Michael Jackson and Farah Fawcett. RIP

Upon hearing the official announcement of Jackson's death on the radio, my coworker acted as though it was funny. I didn't. Even as a serious hard rock/heavy metal fan, I can greatly appreciate Jackson as a musician, dancer, and all-around entertainer. I particular like "Beat it" and "Smooth Criminal." And although he obviously had demons, he seemed like a genuinely good-hearted person.
In recent months I was actually reading about Jackson's childhood and how terrible of a man his father was. I refer Jackson's strange behavior over the years to the psychological and physical abuse he endured (see Wikipedia for the disturbing details). He seemingly never grew out his childlike mind because he never had a childhood. I can't look over his life and unsurpassed achievements without having a sadness cast over the whole story. Hopefully his last days were happy.

Its unfortunate this happened because he was making a comeback.
Actually, just a few weeks from now he was going to start a 50 concert schedule in London called "This Is It." They were going to be his final shows before retirement.

I am guessing the joke was that he looked like Joker, right? He did have a sick mind, twisted by his dad because they were poor when he was five so he got his kids in the music industry... It's his father's fault I guess...

TMM, I'm not sure what you mean he looked like the Joker. Regardless, we're honoring Michael Jackson's contribution to the music industry, not his personal life.
Who here tried to do the Moonwalk? Don't deny it, you know you did!

I think it's pretty sick that people would make jokes about somes life after theyre dead, regardless of what their opinion of them was. Personally, I dont like his music, but I still think its awful he died. I feel really bad for his kids.

On the flip side, Something I thought was interesting that Morgan Webb (X-play co-host) brought up on Twitter was how there are so many people who would regularly berate and insult the man are suddenly trying to act "respectful". Her point of course not being that it's bad that they're trying to act respectful now, so much as how horrible it is that they had zero respect for him when he was alive.

? I didn't say he looked like Joker, I was asking if that was the joke people were saying? I was reading DKR last night and he did remind me of him, the way their faced are formed. Anyways, I didn't care for his songs, he was a great songwriter though. Poor kids, they are going to live differently for the rest of their lives like a curse or something because of this.

So the memorial service was today and like many, many people all over the world, my wife and I watched it. There was some tearful moments, but I teared up big time when his daughter spoke.
I really liked seeing the Jackson men wearing the glove, that was a nice tribute as well.

I didn't watch it but I nearly teared when Paris started talking. I didn't realize how much Michael Jackson meant to me.
I can't say I'm thrilled about the controversy after his death. Child custody, burial sites, financial problems, accusations of drug abuse, etc...the man deserves peace.

Cale mentioned the 50 Michael Jackson gigs in London.
It's not a tour, he wasnt going round the world playing to different countries and cities. All of the those 50 nights were at the 02 (in South East London - it's ok when there are big events on, but essentially it's situated in a rough & tough, moody area).
Whatever you think about him...... for music events the 02 holds 20,000 people. He completlely sold out 50 nights. & they were pricey too!
That's a MILLION tickets!!
I'm not really a Michael Jackson fan - but you can't argue with that!
I think its rediculous how his death is all over the media, and STILL is. I mean, I understand he was an important musician, but its just getting out of hand now. You know that by now all those tv stations and magazines still putting things out about his death are only doing it to make money, and thats pretty disrespectful if you ask me.
