This comes out next week!

THUNDERCATS: SEASON 1, VOLUME 1

August 9, 2005 from Warner Home Video

BURBANK, CA (June 14, 2005) ? Lyon-O, Cheetara, Panthro and the rest of the
Thundercats are back with the first ever DVD release of Thundercats: Season 1 Volume 1
on August 9, 2005 from Warner Home Video (WHV). One of the 1980s most popular
animated series, which spawned a wide array of consumer products including toys and
figurines that are now hot collectibles, Thundercats: Season 1 Volume 1 will be released in
six-disc collector set that includes the first 33 adventure-filled episodes from the TV series
which premiered in 1985, as well as a special featurette entitled "Feel the Magic, Hear the Roar," which includes Will Wheaton (Star Trek: Nemesis) and other Thundercats fans discussing their memories and support of this animated classic. A Thundercats animation cell replica is included inside every set, available to own at $64.92 SRP. Order due date is July 5.

In a distant galaxy, the world of Thundera is in crisis. The planet's structure has become unstable and is near collapse. With the destruction imminent, Thundera?s citizens, known as the Thundercats, escape to find a new home. While on their journey, their spaceship is attacked by evil mutants. They manage to pilot the ship safely to their destination - Third Earth. Upon reaching the new planet, the Thundercats - Lion-O, Panthro, Cheetara, Tygra, WilyKat, WilyKit and Snarf - must fight evil with the aid of the magic Sword of Omens. From their headquarters known as Cat's Lair, the Thundercats face off against the mutants, who have followed our heroes to Third Earth. It won't be an easy contest, because the mutants have a powerful new leader, Mumm-Ra, the Ever-Living. It's up to Lion-O and the rest of the Thundercats to restore peace to Third Earth.

?20 years after its television debut, we are thrilled to finally release Thundercats: Season 1, Volume 1 to DVD,? said Dorinda Marticorena, WHV Vice President, Kid and Sports Marketing. ?During its heyday, the franchise was incredibly popular and since it went off the air in 1988, everything related to this series has become a hot collectible. We think it will be a hit again with those who were fans of the series, as well as those who will now discover it on DVD.?

I can't wait! This is gonna be awsome. Although I'm sure as heck not paying $65, that'd be about $260 if they made all four sets. Amazon already has it for preorder at $45 or so, so that's not bad for 33 episodes plus special features.

I was way too young to remember this being on TV, but we had a VHS of "The Cave of Time" and my older brothers had some action figures, so that got me interested. Then it came to Cartoon Network Sunday mornings at 2:00AM and I watched it every weekend. Too bad they don't play it in the afternoons like they did for a while. It's comin' out next Wednesday (the 9th) though, real soon!

I don't think I've heard of that. A few years ago I saw on some site that had all the different musical pieces from the cartoon downloadable. Most of them said they were done by the Misfits, which I found odd, considering they're an '80s punk band and sound nothing like that. I'd like to be able to get a CD with all of 'em, maybe the DVD will have it so you can listen to them.

One thing's for sure, we're gonna be feelin' the magic and hearin' the roar come Tuesdeey! *dance*

Best Buy.com has it listed for $45.99. A little high for my budget. I passed on this and got the Muppet Show Season 1.

Maybe sometime down the road I will get this. I wish that they would do a top 10 episode thing that would be more affordable like the Masters of the UNiverse DVD.

yeah its at about 50$ give or take a couple of bucks depening on where u go. i agree with DK that it wouldve been nice if they had released a best of dvd to sorta tide over fans who might not wanna spend as much so quickly. im likely to be broek dude to this set and a couple of new wrestling dvds slated to be released later this year sad

anyhoo i did get it and after watching the first three discs i can say that this set is pretty kool. the first 2 discs have a few glitches that u might or might not have heard about. there nothing major at all in my opinion but others might feel a bit differently. one disc1 the first episode has a a glitch in the picture at the 3min mark for a few secnds then its fine. the second episode has a problem with the sound as all the dialouge can be heard just fine but theres no background music!
on the second disc, a couple of the episodes have the messege that closed captioning is available during the intro, it goes away after 2seconds....really not a problem at all

aside from some very minor things, this is a great set, and im having fun recapturing another part of my childhood like ive been doing with heman the past couple of years. and it loosk liek we all might get another run with the cats, as there is apparently some buss about a new toon/toyline coming a litlle while later. altho its not at all confirmed so take it witha grina of salt for now.

thundercats, hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Yeah, I read reviews on Amazon.com saying that the DVD set hasn't been Remastered or anything, like they just tossed 'em onto DVD's. So it still has that same '80s quality, but that still isn't that bad to me, I just want the episodes and special features.

Just the fact that word is getting out on a T-Cats toyline is awsome news to me, I haven't heard a thing.

all this recent thundercats hype had me thinking about something the other day. does anybody knwo anything about the comic that came out a year or so ago. i thought of checking it out around the time the heman comic was still active, but then i heard not so great thigns about it and declined. i know there are a handful of tpbs out there that collect the sisues, but was just wondering if anyone here knew if they were worth checking out? i heard quite a bit of criticism regarding the comic because it apparerntly stray too far away from what weve come to expect thru the old toon. any info would be kool, thanks Smile

I read a few issues, but I didn't understand the plot. It had several characters that I had never heard of. I guess that it took place after later seasons of the show that I didn't see or something. It wasn't bad, I was just disorientated at all the characters that had seemingly been around for a while. My comic guy forgot to put a few issues in my box and I forgot to pull htem off the shelf so I essentially dropped it. J. Scott Campbell art on some of them was really good though.

I have about a half dozen ThunderCats issues. My brother's exgirlfriend was a T-Cats fan and let me borrow 'em and, well, let's just say they're not leaving my house. Most of the art was done by Ed McGuiness, as was the ThunderCats/Superman crossover, which I'd love to read (same goes for He-Man/Superman in the '80s). I didn't read too many of them. If I remember correctly they took place where the cartoon left off, like they're back on Third Earth, fighting new baddies. There was some crappy dialogue by the big new villian that was all "Tell them I'm coming to kill them". Something I would've written in 3rd grade. Still, I kinda liked 'em. Maybe I'll go back and read them over.
