Batgirl Wrote Would you make your own costume or just buy one?
I would like to make my own as soon as I have enough money to make one and go to a comic convention, because my town isn't exactly the kind of place where a nerd running about shouting "Look at me, I'm Nightwing!" while wearing a muscle suit would be welcome. I'd also need to do a lot of exercising, I'm a little scrawny at the moment so I need to build up the muscles to fill the suit.
I'm actually thinking I'd do somthing like that jacket we where talking about.
Well, Nightwing you would have to make youself, unless you find one on ebay that someone else made. But the jacket would be a perfect and simple way to do the costume. How are you going to make the mask?
Lol!!! After spending $200 on my batgirl costume, I'm wearing it on halloween and going trick or treating next year, even if I am a 21 year old nerd!!! (22 by the time I finish it) I doubt I'll get $200 worth of candy, but I have to get as much use out of it as possible. It would be cool to wear it to a convention.

That's perfect for the Joker!! Are you wearing a mask or painting your face? painting my face
It would be cool to make latex peices for the smile, kind of like those fake scars and stuff for halloween. Then you paint the rest of your face and it looks more realistic than a mask!!

I don't know if I'll ever make this costume, so the question is more "How would I make the mask?"
And I'd like to make a latex mask, and I'd probably need to use an adhesive to connect it to my face. Unfortunatly I don't know how to make latex molds and stuff like that, so it's going to be a while until these plans reach fruition. But I do know someone who has a lot of connections, I could probably get them to ask a prop maker or costume maker to give a few tips.

Well, it doesn't seem that difficult. If you can sculpt, that helps. There are some websites I found that give step-by-step instructions on making latex masks. http://www.fxsupply.com/mask/mask.html There's another good one, but I can't find it now. Just search google. But that would be good to get help from someone who actually makes props!!

Lol!! yeah, I would never do that either!! (I think I'm going to start fighting crime, so I can wear my costume all the time)

Thanks for posting the Nightwing BMX costume a while back, Razhwurz. That's pretty cool.

If I spend $200 making a costume, I'll slap it on a maniquin and display it as a "Coversation piece" after I wear it.

Being a nerd, I sometimes think of how a vigilanty like Batman might work in the real world, I usually realize that he'd die real quickly if he didn't spend his whole life training in martial arts, chemistry and criminalogy, and didn't have uber high-tech gear.

I never wanted to become police officer... I've got a bit of an authority problem. :|

Yeah, thats probably what I'll do with my costume. Besides the latex gets messed up, if you just shove it in a box. I have to make a plaster cast of my head and torso for the sculpture, so I'll probably use those to display it. Those should only weigh like a 1000 lbs. Lol!!

Well I give up on selling that cape. I'm not paying to relist that thing again. I guess I'll just use that cape for my batgirl costume. It doesn't have to have yellow lining in the cape I guess.

If it means anything, I showed my brother the auction and his first response was that it's too shiny. Most capes I've seen aren't quite that glossy, so I see his point (I'd prefer a dull, leathery texture myself). Otherwise, it seems a pretty nice item. Hopefully it can still come of some use to your Batgirl costume.
