Burgess Meredith as The Penguin (RIP)! And my favorite episode is anyone with the Joker or Ridler and the one where Green Hornet comes to Gotham!

I know I am late in responding to this thread, since it is almost 10 months old. However, I need to speak my mind about the 1966 series.
I was 6? years old when it first aired on 12 January 1966, and I saw it in the same room in which I am writing this post. That said, the show made a massive impact on me, because of the sense of wonderment, the sense of colour and the imagination that went into its production.
The premiere episode, "Hi Diddle Riddle"/"Smack In The Middle," remains my favourite. It is also Adam West's personal favourite, too. I wonder if it has to do with Molly, played by Jill St. John. I fell in love with her, and she is shown on my avatar.
I watched the show faithfully, but stopped by the end of 1967, when the show's rapidly declining quality left me very cold. By that time, I had begun watching another Dynamic Duo, The Avengers.
But as an adult, I can appreciate what Yvonne Craig did. And I wish that she had gotten her own series. I also think that Batman could have run a LOT longer, had it been given the respect that it deserved.
Regardless of what people might think about the series, it remains a most significant show, because of its art direction and because it represented Batman's first TV gig. It also helped to save the comic, and made the Caped Crusader the mythic figure that he is today.

I absolutely love the 1966 Batman TV Series. I started watching episodes on YOUTUBE and I think AMC had it on TV a while ago. I forget. But I absolutely love it.
<3's to Burgess Meredith. I will miss you so. You played my favorite Batman Villain and I will love you forever for making me so happy. ^ _ ^
I've seen random episodes but the ones I did see, and this isn't a surprise, were episodes with mostly the Penguin in them. Every time he laughed, I absolutely went nuts and giggled. I loved him so much. Everything he did made me laugh.

I just saw some very cool things; First a nine minute film about the BATMAN TV show that was on ABC, in 1965 that had scenes of the premiere episodes...Second, I saw the screen test of Adam West and Burt Ward, AND the screen test of the other two actors vying for the parts of Batman and Robin Lyle Waggoner (yes the Lyle Waggoner from the Carol Burnett show) as Batman and Peter Deyell? as Robin...these films are both on THE BAT-BLOG (tomztoyz.blogspot.com)...all of them are under the December 2007 archieve...Seeing actors other than Adam West and Burt Ward playing the Caped Crusaders on TV is very cool. Make you wonder what the show would have been like had West and Ward NOT gotten the parts. |

You should check out Back To The Batcave with Adam West and Burt Ward. It has some old footage including the Lyle Waggoner audition.

I just watched those screen tests again and noticed that Harriet Cooper was identified as 'Our Housekeeper' and NOT Aunt Harriet...

I was just reading on Wikipedia that Cubby Broccoli offered Adam West the part of James Bond for the film DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, but according to West's autobiography he turned it down saying the part should be played by a British actor
