For those unaware, the History Channel (one of my personal favorites) has recently been airing two hour-long specials about Batman. Both use footage from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight as well as comic book art and are quite insightful on the character. The comic art is portrayed in a really cool way by separating background from foreground and giving them 2-dimensional movement. Various DC editors and psychologists are interviewed for the Unmasked special. I didn't catch all of the Tech one though. They aired last night but I'm not sure when they will again.

Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of the Dark Knight
Delve into the world of Batman and the vigilante justice that he brought to the city of Gotham. Batman is a man who, after experiencing great tragedy, devotes his life to an ideal--but what happens when one man takes on the evil underworld alone? Examine why Batman is who he is--and explore how a boy scarred by tragedy becomes a symbol of hope to everyone else.

Batman Tech
Since his debut in DC Comics in 1939, Batman has dazzled readers with an amazing array of bat gadgets. Viewers will go deep inside the Batcave to examine these incredible tools--many of them inspired by amazing real-life military developments. Discover just how close they come to real-life technology.

You might also want to keep an eye out for TV Guide Network's hour-long special, Big Movie Premiere: The Dark Knight. It wasn't too bad.

I need to see Batman Tech. I saw the Batman Unmasked special, but the "experts"; with the exception of Bale, Nolan, producer Charles Roven (who was amazingy insightful into the characters), and a few others; seemed to be so obsessed with duality and real world parallels that they ignored the deep symbolisms and greater aspects of the character.

And the TV Guide special wasn't bad, best part IMO was when Eckhart was asked who he'd like to have as an alter ego if he had one in real life, and he replied "Gary Oldman".

The Batman Tech show was pretty good; if you liked Unmasked, you'll like this one as well. I liked the real world examples in both shows as they helped add a little weight to the character for the non-fans.

They're both pretty cool. I've never been too big on Batman's gadgets and cars, I mean, I like them, but they're not why I love Batman. So, I think I enjoyed the Psychology of Batman a little bit better. The Comic Book Heroes Unmasked special they made a few years back was pretty cool too.
