Toy News International has photos of the new Space Suit Kal-El figure that's hitting Toys R Us locations. Pretty cool looking. But I never saw the exclusive Batman, so I doubt I'll find this.

Here's more images from TNI:

Well at least there is one Superman variant in this line. The spray-ops looks horrible. Did you notice how it cuts across his neck in front? Where?s the cape?

Huh. I didn't take a very close look. I just got a message from Beyond urging me to post this.
Wow. He does have a silver throat. You'd think it would've been sprayed before assembly. Might not be too hard to get rid of though if you've got some Q-tips and a bottle of nail polish remover.
His not having a cape didn't seem to be a big deal to me. He's had occassional outfits without capes. And a metallic cape may look a little wierd anyway.

I'd probably just do a head swap so I would not damage the head it has. I don't care if he has a cape or not either.

It's a very nice utility for cleaning off figures that have scuffs and marks from crayons or just being banged around. There may be a slight chance that the plastic would dull a bit in terms of shininess, but if anything, it shouldn't be very noticable. I've used polish remover on paint numerous times and it usually worked greatly. Experiment with it a li'l and see for youself.

SPOILER ALERT!!!
WARNING... I'm about to provide some info that would be consider spoilers to the Superman Returns movie. While I'm 1 of those who doesn't get too upset when I am spoiled about events in a movie, I am aware that there are those who complain like hell when they are spoiled of something in the movie, so that's why I'm stating this spoiler alert for those who don't want to be spoiled when the movie comes out. If you wish to read the info, please highlight the area with your mouse from "Begin Hightlight Here:" and continue until you reach "End". Otherwise, go straight to the last paragraph of this posted message.
Begin Highlight Here: The TRU Exclusive Space Suit Kal-El figure is based on the costume that Superman wears early in Superman Returns, when he returns back to Earth to Smallville after his approximate 5 year absense in Space. The suit does look like it's a silver verison of the Returns costume, however it doesn't have a cape. As for the silver around the neck, I don't know if that's Mattel's quality control issue, or it's actually how the suit is, and Mattel just painted it silver instead of doing a slight resulpt. I remember reading that the suit is meant to be a homage to the black suit he wore in the comics for a short time after his was brought back to life after the 4 New Supermen arc(Which was when Steel, Superboy, Eracator, and Cyborg Superman were trying to become the new Superman) that happened after the Doomsday storyline. This is futher proven by the fact that Comics Continuum a month or 2 ago(I believed it was about that time. I don't quite remember) released a picture of Martha Kent holding on to her son in this suit, as well as the pictures I've seen of a statue based on that scene in the movie that I believe DC Direct is going to release. Add in the fact that the recent Toyfare #107(I believe that's the recent issue) mentions about this figure in their Superman Returns toys articles, and does mention the fact that this is the suit he wears when he 1st returns to Earth, before wearing the normal Superman Returns suit.End.
I should also state that, if I remembered correctly when I read it, in Toyfare Issue 107(Which I believe is the recent issue which focuses on some of the Superman Returns toys. I don't have the issue by the way, I just read it) stated that this Space Suit Kal-El will be the 1st of many Toys R Us Exclusive Superman Returns toys. However, someone here may want to verify this, just incase I read it wrong. If this is true, then if there is a Lois Lane figure in this line, then I suspect that it will be part of the Toys R Us Exclusive Superman Returns toys. Well, either that, or a SDCC 2006 Exclusive or even a Target Exclusive since it appears that Mattel really likes to do Target Exclusives. However, this is all assuming that there is a Lois Lane figure from Mattel to begin with. |

It reminds me of the costume that supes wears when he returns after dying in the 90's series. It was a pretty *censored*in costume. I like this one, but yeah, the fig looks bad. The whole series looks bad, he's just to damn skinny.
