Bane returns. The new DC SuperHeroes series of figures is updating some of previous versions of the comic style Batman figures Mattel has released over the last three years, including a few that were only available overseas.
There is not much new to this Bane from the original. The biggest difference is open hands rather than the fists the original had. Because of the open hands it does not come with the spiked brass knuckle that the original had either. While most Bane figures come with no accessories, a few will have Osito, his teddy bear included with them too.
SPECS:
The figure stands 6 1/2 inches tall and has 21 points of articulation (head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, boots and ankles). It includes a Detective Comic Book 736, No Man?s Land, ?Homecoming?.
PROS:
This is still one of the best Bane figures ever released. There have only been a half dozen or so others with Lethal Impact Bane from 1996?s the Legends of the Dark Knight line is a distant next best.
CONS:
The stance should be a little less open, the legs are spread apart a little too much. Osito should not be a ?Chase? figure, although I?ve also read that Osito is a running change, not a Chase. As long as they changed to open hands, they could have included the original fists so you could change them if you wanted.
OVERALL:
The return of the comic style Batman figures was long overdue. For the most part this is just like the Bane that was only released overseas, with only minor changes. Batman along with three villains, Killer Croc, Bane and Scarecrow make up the first assortment, so you stand a better chance at getting one of these at retail than the original. This is a must have figure, if you missed the original here?s your chance to get one.

Also check Toys R Us if you have one. I found my Batman there. It looked like they had just opened a case. I am passing on this figure until the DC Direct Knightfall Bane come out.
Awesome pics there Flabat. I really like the re-enactment of the breaking of the Bat.

I found one in Target, but didn't pick him up. I already read on Action-Figure.com about the rerelease including Osito, so I'm waiting for that one. Same goes for the grey knee pinned Batman. Though I bet anything they'll be jacked up on the secondary market. Mattel's either got some people who can't make up their minds, or are just idiots continually having to fix their obvious mistakes.
I also remember someone (Drunken Fist maybe) saying that the Australian version's muscle shirt connects down to his belt and doesn't stick out, revealing his navel.
Looks like Bane's having a hard time trying to break Batman there. Hahah. Nice photos.
It looks like the knee pins are the same size as the ones in the ankles. I could see some lower level management guy trying to cut corners and look good approving using the same pins. Then of course they have to make the change.

Well my Bane figure from Australia (thanks again Andy) was still on the card, but I opened it to check a few things. Sorry, it was put away when I did the review and pictures.
The shirts are the same, but I recall reading something online that they were different.
The Right Arm of the original has a "Bashing Action", it is spring loaded and can be ratcheted into different positions. Just pull back and it smashes down. The new one does not have that action.
The flesh tone is better on the new figure and a wash over the body brings out the hairs on his back much better than the original. The body is the same for both, but the original does not have a good wash like the new one does.
The knee pins are the same size, but not the same shape and I think they are different.
I found this one at a Target in Beaverton, OR. Up until I found it I wondered if they existed or not. I read that it would be a "chase" figure, but also read that they did not release any. I never saw any in my neck of the woods and I can often find a chase figure or two. There is no change to the Bane figure, only that it has Osito wrapped with a clear rubber band to his left elbow.

I am glad to see that you found this one. When I first saw this was an accessory, I though it was pretty cool homage to some of the major Bane stories. Even though it was onyl like two comics.

I got the International Chase version of this figure(The 1 that came with a the Teddy Bear and a 2 side poster) back in April 2006, and I'm glad I did. I was almost going to pass it because I was hoping to find a chase version that came with the comic book instead of a poster, but then I decided to buy it because I knew it would be in the end hard to find the chase version(I should note that there were both posters and comic book versions of the regular Bane figure without the teddy bear). And I don't regret it, even if it would of been cooler to get the 1 with the comic book instead of a poster. For those who are wondering, the poster is actually 2 side, with 1 side being the same artwork as the front cover of the comic that comes with DC Superheroes 1st wave Killer Croc, and the other being the same front cover as DC Superheroes 1st wave Batman.
The Bane figure from the 1st wave of Mattel's DC Superheroes(Regardless if you got the chase with the teddy bear or not) has got to be pretty much the best Bane to date, because even if it doesn't have the same amount of articulation as a Marvel Legends figure, it still in my opinon has a good amount, althought I just wish it used a ball jointed head, and it would of been even better. And the see through green tube is cool looking, and makes it look like Venom is pumping though the tubes I think. I agree that the teddy bear as the chase was a dumb idea. It's alright if it was suppose to be a running change, but a chase? That's just kind of being lazy. The chase Bane should of either be 1 with closed fists, and/or have a different paint deco(Like say blue pants, the sliver on the mask being white instead, the Venom controller being grey or silver, the tube being a different see through colour like red, blue, yellow, etc, or even the tube could of been none see thorugh). Another idea could be to have a different head sculpt, maybe using a head scuplt design based on The New Batman Adventures verison of Bane. Another idea is that maybe have the regular version have interchanagable hands(Open hands and closed fists), and the chase come with the teddy bear instead of the interchanagble hands, and only then could I maybe accept that the teddy bear being the chase.
Still, it does upset me a bit from time to time when people complain that it's just the same as the one released as part of the International last wave of Mattel's 6" Batman comic book line, especially since there are some differences(Like the DC Superheroes 1 has hands open and no action feature while the Batman 1 has an action feature of sorts and has fists), and when they say they already got the same figure, when it can technicially be a different figure(To a degree of course). And even if they didn't want to pick it up again(Which is alright cause it's there decision), they forget that the last wave of the Batman 6" comic book line never saw a wide retail release in North America, and there are those who probably passed on it the 1st time around, so this still gives/gave people a chance to get a Bane figure for their Mattel 6" Batman/DC comic book line, espeically since the DC Direct figures are usually espensive and have their own problems from time to time.
