Catwoman, Selina Kyle Catwoman
Catwoman, SDCC Exclusive H1322
Selina Kyle Catwoman H1323

The Catwoman is one of the longest running villains that Batman has had to face. Mattel chose to offer two versions of Catwoman as she appears in the new The Batman animated TV show.

First, there is Catwoman the Comic Convention Exclusive figure. While the figure is the same, Mattel had 9, yes 9 variants of the Idol that is included. The ?Gold? Idol is supposed to be one of the most sought after versions. While variants of figures have long been a staple of the industry, this is the first time that I can recall that an accessory was the variant.

Second, there is the Selina Kyle Catwoman, Diamond Direct Exclusive figure that will eventually make her way to Mass Retail in a couple months or so. Both figure bodies are exactly the same, the only difference being the heads and that the Selina Kyle Catwoman only comes with one version of the Idol in translucent Jade

SPECS:

The figure stands 5 1/8? inches tall, with the stand. The Selina Kyle version is just a bit taller. The figure only has 4 points of articulation (neck, shoulders and waist). The figure comes with a Bullwhip, Idol and Stand.

PROS:

It?s Catwoman, and she looks great but the Selina Kyle version looks sadly like a brunette in a leotard rather than the iconic Batman villain that she is.

CONS:

There is little or no articulation and very limited poseability. She has the standard left hand on hip pose that so many other female action figures have had before. While she comes with a Bullwhip, nether hand can grip it. It can be ?placed? in the right hand but it is not held in place. Speaking of right hands, why does the Right Hand have the light gray palm, but the Left one does not? The figure comes with a Stand and needs it to stand up, as the feet are two small to support the figure. I still do not understand the 9 different versions of the Idol.

OVERALL:

As figures go I was a bit disappointed by this one. While most female figures are not overly articulated I think that could have had a few more points added to add play value to the figure. Granted the SDCC version is considered a ?Collectors? version and not really geared toward play value.

This is the first Catwoman action figure that shows her as Selina Kyle. Mattel should have had interchangeable heads or a snap on Catwoman cowl to make the Selina Kyle version that much better. They have ?Quick Change? Batman action figures why not apply that to Catwoman and increase the play value?

The SDCC Catwoman figure is the version you will want. If you were not lucky enough to get one via the lottery at the Convention you will need to resort to eBay to find one. The Selina Kyle version is nice, but not really worth hunting down, without the full costume it?s just not Catwoman. It is after all Catwoman and not so much Selina Kyle that is better known.

Here?s something interesting I noticed. The Card Back of the Selina Kyle Catwoman figure not only does not have her listed, it does not have any Batman figures listed. It only has the seven villains that have been released so far on the Card Back.

I didn't even see this review was up...

Yeah, this/these figures are just such as wierd situation. They should have done it vice versa; had Catwoman a Diamond exclusive and the Selina a Comic Con exclusive. And it just annoys the hell out of me to see a really crucial character get this super-rare "Collector" treatment with the display base and all, even though all the others from the same line are kids toys. It makes her not fit in well with the other figures standing on that base and all. I want the regular Catwoman, but who knows how likely it'll even be.

I like both of them, I would like to have either one. Catwoman is one of my favorite villians, and she's so awesome in The Batman it's just too bad that she's a hard to find figure and all .

I have been checking out this site for months now and was just curious where do you get your figures. I look online and they always seem to be $5 more expensive on sites then in stores and I look in toys r us, target, and wal mart and I still have yet to find Mr Freeze (single pack) Riddler, and now selina. I just got Ducard yesterday which took me months to find. *jlbatman*

I as well as several other people on here have found only one Mr. Freeze at Target. The Riddler is barely out to any locations yet, so I wouldn't worry to much about him at this point. I just recently got my Ducard as well, so distribution seems to be relatively normal in your area, Firemedic.

I'm guessing Selina could be found at places like Suncoast or comic shops, probably not regular retailers like Wal Mart or Target. I haven't been in the local mall for ages, so if they had her she could already be gone. Right now I'd just keep a good eye out for Mr. Freeze since he's obviously only one per case. If figures like Trap Jaw Batman and the new repaint of Bruce-to-Batman are on shelves, you could've already missed him in your area.

I agree Caleson, they should have left Catwoman as a Mass Retail and made Selina Kyle the Comic Con Exclusive. Don?t get me started on the nine different versions of the idol that was just plain stupid on Mattel?s part. While Selina Kyle is Diamond Exclusive now, I understood that it would be at Mass Retail in a couple months, much the same way the first three Comic Figures (Zipline Batman, Battle Board Robin and Quick Fire The Joker) were.

Welcome to BYTB firemedic_batman, I got both of these figures off eBay. Most of my figures I buy at Retail. Target and Wal-Mart seem to be the best places to get them from. As far as Mr. Freeze if you check my review you?ll see that it is available as both a single and part of a Toys R Us 4 Pack. The 4 Packs were plentiful enough, but came out several weeks ago and may have sold through by now. I did not see any in my last TRU visit. Single figures of Mr. Freeze are all but impossible to find right now. I?ve only seen two on the pegs and I bought one of them.

The only positive thing I can say is I?m still seeing Bane and The Penguin and even Firefly new on the pegs at Target, so maybe in a couple months Mr. Freeze and Riddler will be showing up after their initial debut.

Ducard I only saw at Wal-Mart and I saw more than enough of him, even the green shirt variant. I also found the Ra?s Al Ghul variant at Wal-Mart too. The only Batman Begins figure I don?t have is the new variant Scarecrow with the green accents.

Mattel is a evil presence that leaves that dirty taste in your mouth...

Dont get all crazy over this catwoman BS they started, I really hate it, Im sick of the crappy business world as it is...Having hunted down so many things and resorted to Ebay, only to find out couple weeks later that yep! You guessed it an entire case at Walmart or Target!!!! WonderWoman Hawkgirl, Firefly, Ras, Ducard, Mr Freeze, Penguin....and it continues.

Just wait it out, Im certain knowing mattel that this is a front, to gains some weird frenzy and later just because they made the mold for Catwoman...well see a mass produced version that we can all find for a reasonable price with fighting traffic, internet, or some crazy guy in Toys R Us with cheetos on his face...

Thank you for updating me. And thanks for the invite, I love this site it has helped me further my collection by letting me know what I still do not have. I will keep a lookout in stores but there are a few websites that are offering riddler and catwoman already but for like $15. When should we expect clayface, batgirl, and posion ivy????

They announced a Barbara batgirl? At this point, the way Mattell is, I doubt we'll ever see Ellen Yin. And she's not in the show anymore so we won't get her at all! (no fair!)

Anywho, the way they're dealing with Catwoman......sigh. Mattell has some serious problems with girl figures. They barely make any, and when they do they don't move! I mean this is Catwoman! CATWOMAN!!!!!!! She's an acrobat, a martial artist, and she has the reflexes of a cat! last time I checked cats did more than put their left hand on their hip.

Not to mention this is the TB Catwoman, seeing her in actoin on the show makes me want to give her cool intricate poses, but sadly all you can do is move her shoulders neck and waiste? sigh.....Batgirl and Ivy better have more points of articulation. Ivy probably won't have many but I can see Batgirl having more.

Well at least we're getting alot of badguys, even if some of them aren't as good as others. My hope is to see alot more characters next year. They've been talking about some things they're planning or considering, and at this point they've got almost all the badguys by now.

They're going to get to a point where they run out of badguys to use (at least until the show makes more), and hopefully at that point we'll see Alfred, Yin, Ethan, and the other characters they haven't tlaked about yet. (Perhaps a supporting character pack of Gordon, Alfred, Yin, Ethan, and Rojas.....we odn't really need that last one tho....)
