Bruce Wayne / Batman
Secret Files Series 2: Unmasked: DC Direct, 2006

Alter Egos and Secret Identities make up the Secret Files Series 2: Unmasked series of figures. DC Direct went back and reused previous DC Direct figures along with all new head sculpts for the secret identity to produce this series of figures.

This figure is based in the 2003 Hush Batman figure. There are some subtle differences between the two of them. The Bat Logo on the Hush figure chest was etched in and has been filled in here and a pant op with a Yellow Bat Logo replaces it on this figure. The cowl is removable as well, but with closed fists it does not make it easy to display with Batman holding it.

SPECS:
The figure stands 6.75 inches tall (to the ear tips) and has 11 points of articulation (head, neck, shoulders, right glove, hips, and knees) and a hard plastic cape. The figure comes with an ?Unmasked? base, which it almost needs to stand as it seems to have an awkward stance the same as the Hush figure.

PROS:
This is one of the better Batman figures made and certainly one of the better Bruce Wayne figures out there. There are not that many interpretations of Batman in the all dark gray Batsuit he used in the early 90?s.

(Hush Batman right)
CONS:
The ball joint shoulders are not as good as Mattel?s Zip Line Batman. No open hands for gripping anything. No interchangeable right hand with Grapple Gun like the Hush Batman.

OVERALL:
The Hush Batman figure was one of the best Batman figures ever released, and this one is no exception. It has a great look, but not really a playable figure, but then again most DC Direct figures are not meant for kids anyways.
The sculpting is outstanding, typical DC Direct with the right mix of articulation and style. This figure is a must have for any Batman or action figure collector.

Yes you can switch heads to make a custom Hush Batman Unmasked. The right hand also pops off and you could repaint and switch the Hush right hand with the grapple gun and even repaint the cowl from black to blue as well.

Very nice. FlaBat. I agree; I've been wanting a figure like this for ages. The concept is so cool, I got the whole series (still carded and stacked on the floor).
I think the costume style has a bit of a narrow landscape. By that I mean that Batman rarely had black instead of blue in most early-mid '90s comics (where he typically had the oval emblem), and from my knowledge, they didn't really start ditching the overshorts until around 1995. So a blue cowl with overshorts would've given a broader representation of Batman, but that's getting kind of picky on my part.
That's cool that you can switch the Bruce head onto other Hush sculpts, especially since the "down" cowl is a separate piece entirely. It's a great figure that I may even buy a second of to costumize to my liking.

No, the Hush Batman figure had the same problem. The legs are a bit bowed and the feet will not stay flat.

Great review, thanks! The unmasked head looks great, but the neck on the masked head looks weird to me. Very cool. |

Nice review. I really like this figure, the masked version is standing in my JLA display (on a stand mind you). I put the Bruce head on the Tengu Mask figure body from the Knightfall series. That is standing next to the Clark Kent from this series, fits in pretty well.
