Battle Gear Batman
Batman Begins Series 1: Mattel, 2005 #H1295

Battle Gear Batman is the ?Movie Accurate? version of Batman from Batman Begins. In an all black Batsuit with a gold Utility Belt this is one nice figure. The suit is flat black on the legs, but semi gloss on parts of the boots, arms and torso. One interesting touch is the eyes. Most Batman figures only have all white slits for eyes, this one has pupils in the eyes.

SPECS:

The figure stands just short of 5 1/2 inches tall and has 10 points of articulation (head, shoulders, elbows, waist, hips, and knees). Cloth Cape. He comes with a large carry case with Grapple Gun, Folding Batarang and Night Vision Goggles

PROS:

This is one of the better Batman figures made. No, it?s not quite collector quality, but it is really good for the kids market it?s aimed at. There is a great amount of intricate detail not only on the front, but on the back as well. The elbows are better than most and bend to a 90 degree angle.

CONS:

It?s smaller that I would have liked. It is the same scale as The Batman figures and while it is more detailed and better looking, I wish Mattel had made it the same scale as the larger comic series figures. Ball jointed shoulders and articulation at the wrists or gloves would have been nice too.

OVERALL:

The figure has really good playability and is a really good value. Because this is the ?normal looking? Batman it will probably be more sought after than the others. This is a must have not only for the Batman figure collectors, but figure collectors in general. The carrying case for the accessories is cool and the folding Batarang is a nice touch.

Here is a look at a sampling of Batman figures made by Mattel so far.

Back Row: (l-r) Zipline Batman Batman comic style, Triple Shot Batman The Batman, Battle Gear Batman Batman Begins
