Girls Of Gotham City
Batman: Hasbro, 2003. SKU# 70819
One of the last Toys R Us exclusive four packs of figures released prior to Hasbro losing the Batman license to Mattel these figures were repackaged from previous TRU four packs and single carded of figures. As a last Swan Song, after Hasbro had lost the license they released exclusive sets to both Toys R Us and Kay Bee Toys of previously released figures and vehicles.
Batgirl: A new sculpt that first appeared in the Alliance Of Fear TRU 4 Pack. Catwoman: last appeared in the Revenge Of The Penguin TRU 4 Pack, but it was the same figure released as a single in the original TBAS series of figures 10 years earlier. Poison Ivy: A new sculpt that first appeared in the Frozen Assets TRU 4 Pack, Talia: A new figure that first appeared in the Shadows Of Gotham City TRU 4 Pack.
SPECS:
Batgirl: 4.5?, 4 points of articulation (head, shoulders, waist) hard plastic Cape with a Launcher and Projectile Catwoman: 4 1/8?, 5 points of articulation (head, hips, waist) with her cat Isis and Whip and Claw Gauntlets Poison Ivy: 4.5?, 5 points of articulation (head, hips, waist) with Venus Fly Trap and Crossbow. Talia: 4.5?, 4 points of articulation (head, shoulders, waist) with two Pistols.
PROS:
Batgirl: Another release of the new sculpt. Has the most solid stance of any of the four and will easily stand on her own. Catwoman: A classic Catwoman that has been used repeatedly by Kenner/Hasbro. Both hands are open and can hold the Whip. Poison Ivy: Another release of the new TNBA sculpt. Talia: Another release of the new TNBA sculpt.
CONS:
Batgirl: Limited articulation and can not hold accessory packaged with figure. Head has very limited ability to turn because of the hair and cape. The Left Arm is best posed on the hip. In my opinion it is not the best looking Batgirl figure ever released. Catwoman: Limited articulation, but has the best range of motion of any of the four. Her open stance makes it hard for her to stand on her own. Poison Ivy: Limited articulation. Head has very limited ability to turn because of the hair and the Right Arm is really only poseable on the hip. Her Left Hand is open and can hold either accessory included. Her feet are not even and the Left Foot/Ankle is slightly raised making in impossible for her to stand on her own. Talia: Limited articulation and can hold only one of the two pistols. Head has very limited ability to turn because of the hair. Her closed stance and small feet makes it hard to stand on her own, but she will stand.
OVERALL:
A nice set to look at. They all have very limited poseability, most will need stands or be propped up against other figures to stand up. These are not repainted versions of previous figures so if you have the other four packs of figures there is little need to get this set unless you also collect the package as well as the figures.
