The next weekly series will feature DC's Big Three of The Man of Steel, Dark Knight, and the Amazing Amazon of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. The series will be written by Kurt Busiek with art by Mark Bagley. This series happens to be Busiek's "big project" that was mentioned from time to time.
The new weekly-series was announced and made official at this weekend’s RRP meeting by Dan Didio. The series will follow Countdown, but, as with Countdown and 52 which came before it, will be unrelated to the previous weekly series. That said, Trinity will be “apart,” that is, occurring in the DC Universe, but not tied to other events happening in the DCU.
Newsarama interviewed Dan Didio on Trinity, and he revealed certain things about this new series:
- It will be 52 issues, like 52 and Countdown before it.
- Busiek and Bagley will be doing the first twelve pages of all the 22 page issues, giving each issue two stories: a twelve page lead and backups.
- There will be guest artists along the way.
- Trinity will be its own story, exploring not just the history of the Big Three, but their impact on the DCU in the past years and for the future.
- Trinity will bring the focus back to these three characters, both individually and together to understand why they are the three greatest characters in comics. That seems to eb the goal.
