Yvonne Craig is coming to my state!!

She will be present at the Big Apple Comic Con in New York City on 16-17 September. On Sunday, 22 October, she will be at the Syracuse Heroes Expo in Syracuse, NY.

That's pretty cool, I didn't even know there was a Syracuse Heroes Expo. Maybe I'll see about a road trip that weekend.

Boy, that's the nice thing about living in a big city. I live about three hours away from Chicago, so unless I go there, I doubt I'll be meeting too many celebrities. So far, I've just met my pro wrestling idol Bret Hart, and that was a three hour drive south - not to mention sleeping in a truck bed overnight. :|

Syracuse and NYC are each about three hours away from us too, but we live out in the country so everything is a bit of a drive. We usually try to go with a hotel, though - it's a lot more comfortable than a truck bed Smile

Though I might add a 2004 Hyundai hatchback may not be the worst option, either.

Heheh. Okay, I didn't realize you guys' situation wasn't so great either. I guess I just assumed that living in New York, you're automatically only a few blocks from the biggest events on the east coast.

For the record, it was just my brother and me, both limited on money, so that's why we slept in the truck. Not because we're Iowan "hicks" or something... 'cause we ain't. :p

Heh, you wouldn't be the first person...sometimes it seems like if you're under 30 and you tell someone you're "from New York," they assume you mean the city and that you're going to kill them if they look at you funny. True story:

My wife & I went to a convention in Indiana a few years ago. Late one evening, we were in the parking lot looking through the trunk of our rental car, when a guy comes up to us and starts telling us a sob story, asking for money. At one point he mentions something to the effect of "didn't know if we from around here." I still had my hand on the trunk lid, so I pulled it down far enough so that he can see the NY license plate. His eyes double in size, and he makes his apologies for disturbing us while making a hasty retreat, like we're going to start gang beating him. I'm not exactly sure what he thought two convention geeks driving a rented Mitsubishi Galant were going to do to him, but he wasn't going to take any chances.

Anyway, I'm not sure if we're going to be at Syracuse or not - I want to go, but this month has been really busy so far, and the scheduling doesn't look promising at the moment.

New York State may not be California or Texas, but it still covers a bit of a distance. Trust me, the differences between Buffalo and Albany are very great, just as they would be with New York City!

I do understand about spending one's night in a car, though.
