Are the rumors true? I would post the quotes but there are far too many; go to http://www.supermanhomepage.com for rumors.

I thought about it and... What if there wasn't an origin? What if the rumor about Goyer writing a random timed Superman movie is true? After thinking about it... I like it. Overtime, the origin would be shown but in another movie, a prequel made after the series is over with; like X-Men Origins. I tried turning myself toward liking the Goyer rumors with Brainiac and the title "The Man of Steel" and it somewhat worked. I'm not crazy about the name; lately I've tried thinking, what if that nickname; "Man of Steel" was never in the comics and was only used for the reboot? It would be kind of cheesy in my opinion. It sounds like a sports special or maybe a soap about a guy going through some crap with his love life. So, if you think the rumors are somewhat true, let's think about it.
Main characters: Brainiac, Superman, Lex Luthor, Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane, Perry White.
Brainiac has come to earth, looking for Kal-El. Lois Lane and Clark Kent are friends at the Daily Planet (friends at work, most likely nothing more), Jimmy Olsen is a young photographer for the Daily Planet, Lex Luthor is a rich villainous man, Superman is looking back about Brainiac on Krypton (where we would also see some of the Jor-El/Kal-El past). That much we would know as of now (assuming that the rumor is true).

Like I said before, it's too early to call it true or not.
Execs are saying there will be some announcements about the upcoming DC films somepoint in the coming months. We'll have to wait til then to know if there are just rumours or not.
It's also very important to stress that even if the rumours are true, it's still very much possible the movie will never get released. If you'll remember, Goyer has been signed on to all sorts of films like The Flash and Magneto that never saw the light of day. It's also important to know many, many directors have tinkered with the idea of doing a Superman movie only to drop out in the end.
We'll just have to wait and see

Now that we know he's doing something with it... I guess we can talk more now...

Wouldn't have guessed it myself, but it sounds like it'll be awesome. I think it's great news. |

I didn't like it at first but after hearing his interview with somebody about Superman, I can't agree anymore with him. He's perfect. I heard Zod would be the villain though and I don't really think that's the best choice considering he was just on Smallville and even in two years, Zod being on Smallville will still feel recent to fans since Superman doesn't get too much live action. However, I'm afraid Snyder will go off and bring back the Superman II Zod and give him a huge war element. Btw, this rumor which is most recent from today has another plot about the film I'm not sure if I should believe... I was wrong before about Nolan having Zach as an ideal director so I could be wrong again... http://thefilmstage.com/2010/10/06/plot-details-for-zack-snyders-superman-film-revealed/

Does anyone have any thoughts on Henry Cavill being cast as Superman? I wasn't aware of him before the announcement so I don't have any strong expectations really, he looks the part anyway. I was a big fan of Routh, and was kinda hoping he'd return, but they're rebooting so I can understand them going in another direction.
Also, does anyone think they might tweak the costume a bit for this movie? |

He has the look to be Superman. I have not seen Cavil in anything. Not that that means much.
For the plot, I would like to see things we have no had in the past. People should know the origin, and they have already done Zod. The thing that concerns me most about the possibility of Zod is that they have to replicate the excellence that was in the Dark Knight to separate it from Suprman II.
I would have liked to see Routh get a second shot in the big red s, but I understand the need for the casting change. There was so much negative reaction to Supermaj Returns that a separation is important.

The biggest hope I have for the next movie is NO LEX LUTHOR. Seriously I'm sick of him and there's no reason to use him again. Please...no Lex.
I'd also like to see Superman do some really cool stuff combat wise. Like have him use his laser vision to wipe out a fleet of monstrosities! ...Or something like that anyways. |

Kevin Costner has been cast as Jonathan Kent is the new movie, always a big name to play Superman's father(s) I guess.
